That’s pretty much all we get anymore is very “small victories”. Why would anyone want to jump on pm shares when anytime they open higher they spend the rest of the day being drip sold down?

Pretty much the same with G & S. Highs are made in the first half hour and then are dripped lower all day.

If anything is positive it’s that pm’s are up a little with the USD stronger.

Here’s what I don’t get, with the SM rallying hard, why aren’t bonds selling off hard and yields rising hard?

The whole thing gets more ridiculous by the day.

The $ index up 278bps-the euro down about 800 bps-yet gold clings to a 7.50 gain

Creating the lack of excitement-even on up days–is a tactic of gold suppression…why would anyone be motivated to buy gold or silver stocks today? yet, gold is 1252–and not 1050– and not 1150…and not 700 as so many were predicting as an eventual target–a small victory…

Forex-Rigging Fines Could Hit $41 Billion Globally: Citi

By Richard Partington Oct 20, 2014 7:00 PM ET

The cost for banks to settle probes into allegations traders rigged foreign-exchange benchmarks could hit as much as $41 billion, Citigroup Inc. (C) analysts said.

Deutsche Bank AG (DBK) is seen as probably the “most impacted” with a fine of as much as 5.1 billion euros ($6.5 billion), Citigroup analysts led by Kinner Lakhani said yesterday, estimating the Frankfurt-based bank’s settlements could reach 10 percent of its tangible book value, or its assets’ worth.

Using similar calculations, Barclays Plc (BARC) could face as much as 3 billion pounds ($4.8 billion) in fines and UBS AG (UBSN) penalties of 4.3 billion Swiss francs ($4.6 billion), they wrote in a note first sent to clients on Oct. 3.

Authorities around the world are scrutinizing allegations that dealers traded ahead of their clients and colluded to rig currency benchmarks. Regulators in the U.K. and U.S. could reach settlements with some banks as soon as next month, and prosecutors at the U.S. Department of Justiceplans to charge one by the end of the year, people with knowledge of the matter have said.

This report thought that the snowplow driver survived

Posted by ipso facto @ 11:06 on October 21, 2014

“The crash occurred around midnight Moscow time as his Dassault Falcon was taking off for Paris in poor visibility. The plane’s three crew were also killed, but television footage showed the snowplow driver seemingly unhurt.”

AP also said the driver survived;

“Tatyana Morozova, an official with the Investigative Committee, Russia’s main investigative agency, said investigators are questioning the snowplow driver, who was not hurt, as well as air traffic controllers and witnesses.

“At the current time, it has been established that the driver of the snowplow was in a state of alcoholic intoxication,” Morozova said.”

How convenient. Because if the runway was cleared for the plane to use, there was no need for the snowplough to be sent out there. So, who gave that order?… what really happened

Parker’s going to go far! 🙂

Todd’s made many bad decisions. How can they be running for weeks and weeks in the jungle and not produce any gold? I do admire Todd’s drive though. He’s going to need to do better this year

If someone wanted to get him they could have just sabotaged his airplane.

Chinese and Indian gold buyers back in market in a big way

Posted by eeos @ 9:22 on October 21, 2014

What has been particularly strange about the gold market over the past two years is that the stronger the physical demand appearing for gold, the weaker the gold price has tended to get.

In the past few months, the gold price has fallen back from around $1,340 down at one time to $1,190 and now hovering back seemingly trying to breach $1,250 on the upside again, yet by all accounts demand in the two biggest consuming nations has been soaring and they are, between them, taking in virtually everything the world’s gold mines can produce.

The two countries are India and China. A mild relaxation of some of the import controls put on gold in the former saw gold imports rise to around 95 tonnes in September, while the weekly withdrawal statistics from the Shanghai Gold Exchange show that gold demand has latterly also picked up extremely well in China after a good start to the year, but then a marked downturn from March to August. read more

Todd Hoffman … mining giant! 🙂

Klondike Gold Announces Lease Agreement with Todd Hoffman’s Jerusalem Mining

Klondike Gold Corp. (KG.V) (“Klondike Gold” or the “Company”) announces that the Company has entered into a lease agreement with Jerusalem Mining LLC (“Jerusalem Mining”) whereby Klondike Gold assigns to Jerusalem the rights and permits to placer mine on the McKinnon Creek property, Yukon. Under the terms of the lease agreement, Klondike Gold will receive from Jerusalem a direct 15% production royalty payable in raw gold and will receive an additional 5% on behalf of an underlying, pre-existing royalty holder. The lease agreement is subject to a minimum annual payment by Jerusalem Mining to Klondike Gold of 100 ounces raw gold or cash equivalent. As of October 2014 this payment to Klondike Gold has been made. The lease agreement is renewable annually for three years subject to annual approval by both parties. As of October 2014 the lease for 2015 has been approved by both parties. The agreement also acknowledges that during the term of the lease as part of the development and production activities Jerusalem Mining will be allowing employees and agents of Discovery Channel television access to the McKinnon Creek property.

The principal of Jerusalem Mining is Todd Hoffman. Todd Hoffman and his ‘crew’ are prominently featured on the Discovery Channel (USA) cable TV show “GOLD RUSH” which focuses on the trials of the Hoffman crew mining for placer gold. GOLD RUSH is Discovery Channel’s #1-rated show and is distributed to 100.8 million U.S. homes and over 200 million households globally in 210 countries.

GOLD RUSH returned for its fifth season on Friday, October 17 at 9 PM ET/PT in the United States, and will air as a 2-hour special in Canada Tuesday, October 21 at 8 PM ET/PT, and weekly thereafter at 9PM ET/PT. Klondike Gold and Peter Tallman, the Company’s President and CEO will be featured in the first episode and periodically throughout Season 5.

Peter Tallman, states “The lease agreement with the ‘Hoffman crew’ represents a positive business opportunity for Klondike Gold in terms of increasing production at McKinnon Creek while decreasing Klondike’s operating and carrying costs. Additionally, it has been a pleasure to work with Todd, his crew, and the film crew personnel on an interesting mining season. We look forward to watching the fun fifth season of GOLD RUSH.”
