I think 9/11 caused all this mess. They attacked Afghanistan and Iraq to get revenge. They dropped the dollar to stimulate, which jacked up prices, which jacked up investment and production, which caused less consumption, and flooded amounts of oil. Over doing the economy causes a natural slowdown.
