Silverngold – I agree with everything you said, these guys need to be subject to the same health care and laws they pass for the rest of us, but sadly I think most of them are power hungry and seek only to line their own pockets. I did find it interesting and quite telling that the lobbyists are now seeking out regulatory agencies rather than congress critters. That is even a worse scenario IMHO.
I’ve had the opportunity to engage with Ryan Zinke the Congressman from Montana who is a former SEAL Team guy. We are a small community and he is part of an email group. Sadly, I must say that Ryan voted for the Omnibus bill and used the “I want to strengthen our military, keep America safe” excuse. I called him out on it and told him that he can’t keep America safe while we have porous borders – a phenomenon created by Bush and enthusiastically endorsed by Obama. I told him I can’t see the difference between Dems and Repubs anymore and asked him if he and his colleagues understand who the real enemies are and then sent him this quote from Thomas Jefferson:
“If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered…I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies… The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.”
I think sadly some folks are still wrapped up in the left/right farce including many congress people.
I told him I thought the banks were engineering another collapse and if he wanted to be left holding the bag.
So many folks need educating…
