I knew back in 1975-80, 40 years ago what was unfolding. The loss of most manufacturing industries. Manufacturing is the BIRTH of wealth. Everything else, like service of products, retail of products, civil service tax absorber jobs etc are all OVERHEAD.
They produce and contribute NOTHING of use. For example. First you produce an aircraft like Leroy Grumman and his friend in a garage. (or Ford or Edison etc) You sell it and make a profit, and with the profits you can hire a secretary, a salesman and a sweeper.
In other words.
“A shop can exist without an office and a showroom.” (they are a luxury)
“But an office and showroom can NOT exist without a shop”. (wealth, bacon)

We all paid taxes to our gov’t, and the gov’t gave away our industries to share wealth with other greedy needy nations, and also help big global businesses make big profits, until it all FINALLY ended in 2008.
They had our economy on artificial life support for decades, by increasing gov’t employees, more unneeded work for gov’t vendors.
(roads space and defense solar panels, environment law enforcement and increasing credit limits)
P.S. Then our Gov’t also looked away from CORRUPTION for decades because it generated revenue. They KNEW Bernie Madoff was corrupt, but kept their mouth shut. Ever since that day corruption in all various forms is getting caught, another reversal re CORRUPTION. Look around your town village state etc. Many getting caught.
