Well good luck and nice of you to help her out. If she can manage a assisted living since she left her home now where they take them places she will or should be better off because of more eyes and peers her age to meet. They will help her with her activities of daily living as needed or if something should happen. If she rents a room with strangers you don’t know what could happen and they are not obligated to help her with anything.
As now if anything happens like chest pain or other problem she doesn’t even have a phone to call for help. I don’t know the situation though. It would be a lot cheaper to have in home care where they help with shopping, doctor visits, cooking, laundry, housework, bathing but the cut off is too low it’s like 1230 a month or something so they wind up in expensive nursing care which some places are deplorable if they don’t have help. Doesn’t make sense.
I remember a case where a patient was admitted and I was told the daughter couldn’t be alone with the patient. I asked why they told me they left her alone for three days at a time then would come feed her and leave again.
Another came took their father and then took his money left him in a motel abandoned him what I heard when admitted malnourished and dehydrated.
On the other end those with dementia sometimes make claims that aren’t true. They become suspicious of everyone so why adult services might be a better choice as other people can take advantage of that they have something to gain.
