Yes, the temperature is highest at the ceiling of the greenhouse. The warm air rises as far as it can (the ceiling) and just collects there. As warm air continues to rise, it continues to raise the temp. of the air at the highest level. You might have climbed a step ladder to replace a light bulb on your ceiling in the summer with no AC on in the house. It can be noticeably hotter up there, particularly if you have 10 or 12 foot ceilings. My dad built a greenhouse when I was young and I did a science report for school about the temperature gradient in a greenhouse. It proved the highest temp was at the ceiling and it got progressively cooler toward the floor.

The reason I say there is no ceiling for our planet is that there is no evidence anywhere I look that suggests there is any level above the ground where the temperature is hotter than the ground level for any length of time. On the contrary, there is all kinds of evidence that the temperature just keeps getting lower, the higher the elevation above the ground. Heat is not being trapped by any layer of gas, therefore, no ceiling and no greenhouse.
