I’m glad you and family got out and sounds like you got out just in time. I can’t understand why people didn’t gather their pets and keep them inside and leave with them and worse locked them in instead of a least giving them a fighting chance. I heard people were breaking windows of abandoned homes so the pets could escape, if they did.
A open window almost insures fire will get in but that’s their fault.
That’s why I sent herilooms handed down four generations out of the state to a niece.
Next time you build, maybe build a cellar with a metal top or maybe someone here can give you some ideas, to put things in.
I saw one in Australia where there was no time to get out so they went in it was pretty deep thank goodness. They videoed the metal top as the fire went over them and it was so hot it was red. Luckily the shelter went back and they weren’t under it incase it melted.
My step grandparents in Oroville had a big farm there with lots of olive trees.
They had a underground cellar but luckily never had to use it while they were still on earth. Now the Gov isn’t really fixing the dam just repairing it a bit. Same old BS.
I’ve given to the cause but will try to send some money your way in a week or so.
