They totally failed these people by not calling to evacuate. Their lives were in their hands and learned not to trust that.
I can understand that if they couldnt get back. I can understand why they evacuate the ones closest to the fire first in immediate danger and not to tie up traffic so they can get out. My eyes were opened to how fast fire can move when I was a teen and saw it come down a mountain in one second. No exaggeration, only one second and there were people caught it in. I was a block away from the base and there was fire burning around me suddenly. It was called the Sylmar Loop fire.
I learned when it’s coming to put a rag in your mouth and have one handy in your pocket so you don’t breath in the fire and heat. That you never assume anything and there should be watcher out there as well as fire hoses. There was no watcher so glad you watched yourself. If you have time you can just tell others but you waited for a order to come that never came watched yourself and barely got out.
Same happened in 911, they told them to wait and not get out and they obediently stayed till the end and never got out.

They still put fire people in danger and they even need to speak up and ask questions or what they will need like things I mentioned and always keep the WCS in their escape plan like what if the wind picks up or changes. It’s so fast even if you know it could get you if you don’t have a save place to move fast if it turns against you.
Hope you all speak up for the people who never got the order.
One of my son in laws. two of his family members also lost their homes there too but they all got out same as you just left and got their pets out.
