Astrology and the Titanic

Astrology of the Titanic. Data:  April 10, 1012 @ 12:15 p.m. GMT from Southampton.  The horoscope contains most of the classical warnings of disaster:  a void-of-course Moon; a malefic (Neptune) in the degree of the Nodes and square them; the Sun (Captain) conjunction the North Node; Mars, ruler of the 10th house (destination) inconjunct Uranus, ruler of the 7th house (voyage); a retrograde Mercury in the 10th house; Saturn, symbol of sinking is intercepted in the 10th house.  A brief look at the situation:

The Sun in Aries describes Captain Smith as optimistic and a man overly anxious to set a new ship’s record for speed but with Sun applying to square a 12th house (submergence) Neptune (icebergs) he was highly insecure with a weak sense of reality to appraise risks accurately.  His legendary skills of leadership were not in evidence on this voyage, as recorded by survivors, making the “fact” below curious.

“FACT: The Captain, Edward Smith, was one of the most decorated Captains of his time and it would have been totally out of character for him to avoid precautions.”

From the captain’s background it would seem incongruous for a man with a distinguished record to collude with those wanting to sink the ship.  So I question the legitimacy of the article.
