Welcome to the Oasis!
Skoal!
Now that’s pretty sad. I am so sick of tomatoes and drying and canning them that I want to rip up my plants! I’m giving them away to neighbors and every delivery person or mailman I can catch. I’m not kidding.
And peaches, oh my.
Farmboy, will you please stop by and help me make some pies?
……just wanted to say hi!!
NEMO
Welcome to the Tent!
We timed the opening to match up with a major rise in the PMs. Doncha know! 🙂
There’s some weird weather going on. We just had 10 day stretch with highs over 80. Most days in a row over 80 since 1977. Wearing jackets in July in OK … that’s crazy!
Picked my first tomato yesterday. Gonna be a great year for tomatoes.
Thanks for the  welcome …. And for the lead several years ago to that historic hotel ( Casa Marina ? )  , which my late wife enjoyed immensely – she was a history buff , so the Flagler connection was right up her alley . Just a few months later , the grim reaper snatched her away , suddenly .  Some day I hope to return .
Still gettin’ the hang of the dashboard–it doesn’t like my old browser much. But the hard drive on my desktop died the other day, so we make do as we can. Anyway, place looks great, can’t wait to figure it all out.
Sounds like the cook left the sugar out. Yeah, rhubarb can make ya squinch your eyes, and pucker up like a green persimmon.
This recipe called for a whole cup of sugar and I counted every grain to be sure not to leave even one out.
And Ice Cream…well, what doesn’t go with ice cream. Even in the middle of July with your jacket on, a man has got to have his ice cream.
But I am really appreciating this break in the heat. Yep
Might as well pull up a chair and listen to a little guitar. Good to have you join us old friend.
Oklahoma set record low temps today and rain. Wearing jackets in Oklahoma in July! I hope Eqiz doesn’t get too close to the fires.

Wish I was around earlier say 2 o’clock when Oasis launched. That rocket taking off…awesome.
150 fires! Holy Cow! I hadn’t heard you guys were having problems. We’ve got fire problems too … in E. Washington but I don’t think there’s 150!
I hope you enjoy the Oasis. It’s pretty much like the Tent. I guess you read the letter and know why we’re here. The Tent had an unknown expiration date on it that we don’t have to worry about anymore.
Cheers

I had just graduated high school in 1966 and set off on a harvest crew headed north. Toward the end of wheat harvest, we were in Kildeer, North Dakota, where a farm wife had fixed a big lunch for us. When the dessert arrived, I was surprised to see purple celery in the cherry pie. I wasn’t real sure what I was eating so I waited until the locals shoveled in huge bites. They seemed to enjoy it so I had a bite as large as the fork would hold. I was sure that pie was half alum by the way my cheeks collapsed!
That rhubarb stuff is definitely an acquired taste. By the third bite, I had it down. One big bite of pie and a bigger bite of vanilla ice cream.

fire-fighters to British Columbia to help us with the approximately 150 forest fires in progress here. Â I would be delighted if you could just send us some rain, without lightning, from your south end of the Puget Basin. Â Cheers.
Welcome to Goldtent Oasis!
Welcome to our new home.
“Huge story this morning from Koos Jansen on massive silver imports into India:
In April India imported 713 metric tonnes or almost 22.9 million oz. If we extropolate this for the whole year, the total imports would come to almost 275 million oz. The mining companies produce around 700 million oz so this represents almost 40% of annual global production.
Silver is on a tear in India…. ”
Anybody have Macroman2’s email, how about dropping him a note please. I don’t think he has gotten the word yet??
“100% long”
Me same same. Hurts on the downside … very nice on the upside! 🙂
I logged out and was able to log back in.
Have not had one of these pies in forty years. I remember my grandmother making these as a young’n. Don’t like to brag much on myself, but I ‘nailed it’ with this one. Course, I reckon any dessert tastes a little better when it comes with childhood memories.
Welcome to the Oasis my friend !
