HO scale model steam locomotives from hi-end makers come as cast-brass models that look like that. They leave it up to the modeller/purchaser to airbrush the black paint on and apply decals for whatever railroad they wish. They cost a ton of money above the usual plastic body consumer models.
So a boyhood friend of mine said he always wished he could get “a brass locomotive”. It was the ultimate modeller’s dream. One day I visited him and saw a brass locomotive on his shelf! WOW! Upon closer examination I found it was a plastic loco that had been spray painted brass gold. “Don’t tell anybody”, he whispered, “but it sure looks nice on the shelf, doesn’t it?”
Heh heh he
Clearly, whom ever owned that big steamer also wanted a “brass Loco”! 🙂
