was also posted over at PP, just to be sure he saw it.  Apparently he did, and edited it off the board.  Of course his false allegations that I called him out on are still posted there.  That’s what editors-in-chief do… edit reality to their own liking.
Bah… good riddance.

going back to 1936. Strange weather we are having this summer, but like you, I aint complaining about the cool temps and the full ponds. Just wondering if we are to get an early frost? Gonna have to rush to get those tomatoes in canning jars and in the dehydrator is my guess. Not having many problems with the insects eating up the veggies this year. Figure this past winter was enough below freezing to take care of that.

Things are plentiful enough around here I am thinking of adding a new item to the canned goods this year.

Have started cutting the herbs and hanging them to dry. There is enough Oregano hanging in the kitchen entranceway to feed an army. Same for Rosemary and Thyme. Place smells like a curing house for herbs. 🙂

Good Lord Woman, now where in the world did you find that song? Tex Ritter? Are you serious? And I thought I had done good stretching back to grab Chet Akins ‘Frog Kissing’. A tip of the ole cowboy hat to you this evening. I think I am doomed, but promise to keep up the good fight for now. (grin)

Tex left off a few verses and there probably are a few more if I was to look around, but here are a few more lines to sing along tonight. Careful, its kinda a catchy tune and you might find yourself humming this song in the shower sometime.  ( Uh Huh)Sure looks like ole Farmboy has met his match. For heaven’s sake !

Here are the Bob Dylan lyrics

LOL ! You are a mess gal ! Think I could get Natalie to include this in her repertoire of singing old poems into song?

Those are all heirloom tomatoes. I pick them when they first start to blush and put them in the window sill for two or three days. If I let them get ripe on the vine, the grasshoppers and other varmints get to them first.

had a big plate of fried okra for dinner yesterday. It rained two inches and record low high temperatures again. After five years of intense heat and drought, the green cool countryside feels good on my old bones.

we even have enough water holes around to float a little pad .

Yes, it blooms only for a few hours starting around 9 p.m. and then around 1 a.m. it begins to close.

And now for a heads up, this is really not good:

Musical chairs … yes I think so. Or else Old Maid playing with 20 Old Maids and if you get one your country blows up in chaos. Seems like the PTB have to paper this stuff over and will do so until it becomes impossible.

Err um those tomatoes look kinda green my friend. Are you a fan of fried green tomatoes? I’ve actually never tried it. I think it’s a Southern thing.

That IS a lot of tomatoes!

Argentina And Banco Espirito: What About The Derivatives?

July 31, 2014Financial Marketsbond funds, credit default swaps, derivatives, financial fraud

Argentina is interesting because of the legal issue surrounding the specific Government bonds on which it might default. I called Banco Espirito as a likely bankruptcy after the stock exhibited Enron-esque characteristics. As that one unfolds, it looks like the entire corporate structure above the bank and with the bank itself is engulfed with fraud.

And now we find out that Goldman Sachs plugged its client base with BES bonds and stock: LINK. Classic

The more interesting question in both cases has to do with the credit default swap derivatives. While the default could trigger $29 billion in bondholder claims, Bloomberg ran a story a couple days ago that suggested the default on this one bond issue could trigger $120 billion in credit default claims: LINK.

The details are buried in the bottom of the news report. Since I have not seen anyone mention the $120 billion, I assume that – just like with the footnotes to financials statements – I guess no one read the full article.

However, it’s not the $120 billion in CDS claims that are visible. The real danger lurks in the “daisy-chain” of hidden counterparty default that could trigger a big meltdown. Remember AIG/Goldman? That melt-down – which triggered the big bailout banks – was likely triggered either by the Bear Stearns or Lehman collapse. The former happened several months before AIG and Goldman. When Bear collapsed, Bernanke assured us it was isolated and contained. “Shalom Ben!” – how did the statement work out for you?

The S&P futures are down 15 points right now on the back of the Argentina/BES news. It’s not because of the news itself. It’s because of the related skeletons in the closet that are connected to the events that may be poised to jump out…

Better check the bond and derivatives holdings of your favorite bond fund – you know, the bond funds that your genius investment advisor has you invested in because “they have a good yield.”

Think today will end up being one of the rinse and repeat things. While Congress is out on vacation during the month of August, 14 states are holding primaries. I don’t think the Obamaites want the markets failing while voters line up in the heat. Just my WAG.
