Goldcorp says El Sauzal may not be restarted

yeah, could be due to the NATO meetings. Could also be that Merkel and the EU put some pressure on Porushenko and Ukraine to do a cease fire because a wicked winter is around the corner and they need that nat gas? Could also be that Russian sanctions are killing a few EU countries, namely Greece?

BUT, it ain’t over until Putin says it’s over. I suspect as the winter nears Putin will push Porushenko and the EU to let East Ukraine vote to join Russia?

Putin is doing a masterful job of dividing the west IMHO.

I wonder if Syria will join up

U.S. says forms ‘core coalition’ to counter Iraq militants

(Reuters) – The United States said on Friday it was forming a “core coalition” to battle Islamic State militants in Iraq, calling for broad support from allies and partners but ruling out committing ground forces.

President Barack Obama sought to use a NATO summit in Wales to enlist allied support in fighting the Islamist militants, but it is unclear how many nations might join the United States in air strikes in Iraq.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel told foreign and defense ministers from 10 nations on the sidelines of the summit that there were many ways they could help.

“We need to attack them in ways that prevent them from taking over territory, to bolster the Iraqi security forces and others in the region who are prepared to take them on, without committing troops of our own,” Kerry told the meeting.

“Obviously I think that’s a red line for everybody here: no boots on the ground.”

Ministers from United States, Britain, France, Germany, Canada, Australia, Turkey, Italy, Poland and Denmark met to discuss a strategy for addressing the Sunni militant group that has taken over swathes of Iraqi and Syrian territory.

“This group here this morning is the core coalition,” Hagel told them. “It is the core group that will form the larger and extended coalition that’s going to be required to deal with this challenge.”

Kerry said he hoped the allies could develop a comprehensive plan for combating IS in time for this month’s annual U.N. General Assembly session in New York.

Canadian miners scrap over gold discovery after mega deal

By Allison Martell

TORONTO, Sept 5 (Reuters) – On one side, the founder of top miner Goldcorp Inc, his young apprentice, an aggressive securities lawyer, and a tiny company based in a Quebec mining town. On the other, the chief executives of two leading Canadian gold miners, fresh off one of the biggest deals of their careers.

Some of Canada’s best-known mining executives are sparring over the early-stage but promising Odyssey gold discovery in Quebec, near Canadian Malartic, the country’s biggest gold mine.

The legal fight has its roots in the C$3.9 billion ($3.6 billion) takeover of Osisko Mining Corp, the mine’s builder, this year. Yamana Gold Inc and Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd teamed up to beat a hostile bid by Goldcorp, taking control of Canadian Malartic.

At the heart of the dispute is who, if anyone, will profit from Odyssey, one of Osisko’s assets. If early drilling results at the exploration site pan out, it could be a choice addition to the Canadian Malartic mine, extending its life.

Abitibi Royalties Inc, listed on Venture, the Toronto Stock Exchange’s market for small, growth companies says it was Osisko’s minority partner, and the deal has triggered its right to take control of part of Odyssey. Yamana and Agnico dispute that claim.

Tiny Abitibi was little known before it challenged the two mining heavyweights, but it has a big backer in Rob McEwen, who ran Goldcorp until 2005, and it has doubled down even as Yamana and Agnico dismiss its challenge as opportunistic.

In June, McEwen’s protege Ian Ball joined Abitibi’s board, along with Joe Groia, a lawyer and former head of enforcement at Canada’s top securities regulator. In July, McEwen invested C$2 million in Abitibi. In August, Ball became president.

Canada’s tightly-knit gold industry, home to three of the world’s top five gold producers, has been split by conflict in the wake of major deals before. Barrick Gold Corp tussled with Goldcorp for two years over the El Morro project in Chile until 2012.

“The point here is a point of principle,” Yamana Chief Executive Peter Marrone said, discussing Abitibi’s challenge on a July 31 conference call. “You cannot make actions like this, certainly with a company of the stature of Agnico and Yamana, without consequences.”

Ukraine, Separatists Agree On Cease-Fire; EU May Suspend Sanctions

While we had grown weary of trashed truces and snapped cease-fires in Israel, it appears, according to Interfax, that Ukraine and the pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine (having gained notably over the army in recent days) have agreed a cease-fire:

*UKRAINE, SEPARATISTS AGREE ON CEASE-FIRE FROM 6PM TODAY: IFX
*POROSHENKO: PRELIM. PROTOCOL TO CEASE-FIRE SIGNED IN MINSK: BBC

Great news, especially for Merkel (and Hollande) who has already come out and noted that the cease-fire means EU could suspend sanctions (saving face and avoiding some further escalation). The question is – how much of Putin’s 7-point-peace-plan will Ukraine acquiesce to? If any?

August Jobs Tumble To Only 142K, Lowest Monthly Print Of 2014 And Below Lowest Forecast; Unemployment Rate 6.1%

So much for the latest recovery: with not a single analyst expecting a NFP print below 190K, the BLS just reported that August payrolls tumbled from a revised 212K to only 142K, which was not only below the lowest Wall Street estimate of 190K, but it was also the the lowest monthly jobs print in all of 2014 and the biggest miss to expectations since the “polar vortex”! The Unemployment rate dripped modestly from 6.2% to 6.1% confirming yet again it has become a completely meaningless metric.

It is Friday in September

Good Morning

Well to best describe yesterday would be in simple terms Not Pretty, smile. I do not want to hear one word about charts. This is a completely manipulated market place. To suggest that this market is fundamentally valued in relationship to these extremes numbers, WITH anything but illusionary digits funded and controlled by the International FED and would require a fool. ( I must apologize to any believers here which may consider the Fed just a “bank”, smile) Frankly, I do not believe anyone here, reading at the tent, does not understand the tremendous power that the Fed has historically MANUFACTURED and is now in place globally.
My point, they control the moment until they do not…and what does this have to do with Gold ..everything….
The dollar is the key instrument of the FED…
Just a Friday morning insight….Who would have believed that any country could and can buy it own debt endlessly? The real point.. buy its own debt and continue to spend digits to fund a system with NO real proportional wealth to ever ever pay it back…so simple and so very complex…
Another vision we have lost in the mix of events….the globalization of the world and hence the NWO’s vision of a united North America ….there will be no borders…hum? Could this be what this all about?
That NWO….illusion ..hum…
Well enjoy your day…I am certain the sun rose and will set today…I am certain some will have a happy day and other will not…

just another moment ….i have always believed in silver more than gold …that too would require a long long comment…
