According to the Agricultural Marketing Resource Center, Hong Kong has become the destination for roughly 1 in every 3 pecans that the U.S. grows! 1 in 3! That’s over 100 million pounds of pecans. Considering that the U.S. produces 80% of the entire world’s crop, this means that China, a country that didn’t have a word in its language for “pecan” just 10 years ago, is now eating 1 in every 4 of these delicious nuts produced on planet earth.
