PREVENTION MAGAZINE=7 Steps To A Longer Life Simple steps to protect and strenghten your DNA—and keep you young

The science of living longer=LOAD UP ON WHOLE GRAINS

Cutting-edge science is unlocking the anti-aging secrets of telomeres—tiny segments of DNA that may reveal breakthrough insights into staying healthy and living longer. (Check out our full report on telomeres, Your Anti-Aging Future.) Basically, the shorter your telomeres, the shorter your life. Recent studies have linked telomere length to an array of age-related conditions, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, cancer, and Alzheimer’s.

While only time will tell as to what role interventions from genetic engineering or telomerase-activating compounds will play, there’s good evidence that you can protect or lengthen telomeres with simple lifestyle changes. Here are seven ways to help lengthen your telomeres—and your life—starting today.

LOAD UP ON WHOLE GRAINS

Research links fiber, especially from cereal, to longer telomeres in women. That may be partly because folic acid, which fortifies enriched grain products such as breads and cereals, is thought to help protect DNA, including telomeres. Other research finds that levels of folate (the form that folic acid takes in the blood) appear related to telomere length in men. But researchers think that antiinflammatory and antioxidant properties of whole grains and plant-based foods in general help explain the effect as well—reason for the 95% of Americans who don’t eat the recommended 5 to 8 ounces of whole grains a day to get more.

Watch your weight

The relationship between weight and telomere length appears to be complex. “We’ve found that people with a higher body mass index tend to have longer telomeres,” says Dr. Schaefer. But other studies have found the opposite. Age and other factors may play a role. In one study of women ages 35 to 74, yo-yo dieting and gaining pounds after age 30 were associated with truncated telomeres. “Obesity causes chronic inflammation, which produces oxidative damage, and telomeres are sensitive to that,” says Dr. Parks. (Oxidation is a process in which oxygen triggers chemical reactions in the body that can damage cells and tissues.) “The longer you’re overweight, the more damage may occur,” Dr. Parks says. Evidence suggests, as one study she worked on concludes, “obesity may accelerate aging.” (Follow this simple plan to help you

Tyler Durden is really Daniel Ivandjiiski?

Posted by Mr.Copper @ 21:53 on October 14, 2014

Tyler Durden
Tyler Durden is a reference to the lead character in Fight Club. It’s the pseudonym for Zero Hedge’s key author(s) used to hide their identities.
Part:
“Here is the nut of a story up today.
A 30-year-old New Yorker who was barred from the securities industry last year may be behind an increasingly popular financial blog known as Zerohedge.com, which is catching flack for its obsession with anonymity.

Daniel Ivandjiiski, whose most recently listed address is on the Upper East Side, was barred last September by the financial industry’s self regulatory authority, FINRA, for insider trading….

Ivandjiiski didn’t return requests for comment, but he recently told industry publication Hedge Fund Alert that while he writes for Zerohedge, he’s not a founder.

“He denied that he was a founder. He said he was just a contributor,” Hedge Fund Alert Managing Editor Howard Kapiloff told The Post.

Ivandjiiski told Kapiloff that he’s one of several writers who contributes to the site under the pseudonym “Tyler Durden,” the charismatic, psychopathic alter-ego of the main character in the book and movie “Fight Club.”…

Part:
“I used to pay more attention to Zero Hedge than I do now, because I found a few posts which I considered to be so wild that I felt I could no longer trust much of what I read there. If it were clearer which “Tyler Durden” wrote those particular posts, I’d pay much more attention to the other “Tyler Durden” posts. And that’s good for everyone.

Yes and No, depending.

Re part:
“It simply reinforces the government’s unchecked power to arbitrarily audit, fine, shut down, and expropriate production of private companies.”
“Under this new law, the government will have the honorable burden of defending consumers from greedy producers.”

Comment:
The story doesn’t say if those “private businesses” are local domestic small businesses or most likely they are big publically held multi national global corporations.

The USA has had a slow death (lower living standards lagging wages) since 1980 because of global corporations, that control our Congress, and pushed thru many anti American trade treaties. Big corporations don’t care about any particular COUNTRY other than what they can GET. Not patriotic at all. Out for themselves or share holders. Arbitraging US labor and taxes.

My guess is Argentina and Venezuela are victims of globalization are humbled and “can’t take it anymore” so are reacting or defending themselves. These big corporations have great entitlements. They do big campaign contributions, hire lobbyists etc.

In my view the Americans were SOLD OUT decades ago by our dumb elected politicians. The story might be fitting my post meltdown new saying…..”What ever under handed thing you were getting away with, its going to end”

One by one, starting with Bernie Madoff. Look around and listen and notice how many times you read or hear about someone or company getting CAUGHT.

Pgr….. Nope, I Think The Gals Name Was Bathsheba..

Posted by Farmboy @ 21:05 on October 14, 2014

Lot of things are a mystery to me in the Bible. And looking into the eyes of some woman and keeping a straight face while I told her, ” I love you Bathsheba…” is one of them. I can do, ” I love you Mary. I love you Sally Lou, but Bathsheba…..I just don’t think I could do it without laughing. Maybe….” I love you Hotub  Baraba Jean. But never Bath sheba. just couldn’t keep a straight face to save my life. Course now, that might depend on what she could do with a sponge and bar of soap. ??  And if I read the scripture right ( I wouldn’t count on it), I think that is what got King David in trouble in the first place. He was out one evening and noticed her bathing. Hmmm….reckon I best stick to my lilly pad. 🙂

Leave it up to you to start a ruckus tonight . LOL But good to hear from you just the same, Farmboy

Well, reckon I am in good company with the ‘old’ folks. Was telling a friend of mine the other day I am a lot closer to the Finish line than the Starting line. But yeah, you are right, some of us have been on this Golden Trail for awhile. (Probably seems like forever if you follow the 5 second charts )

Hey, listen up, I have been reading the book of Psalms. That’s in the bible….lol and I learnt something last week. Most of Psalms is written by a fella named David. You might have heard about him. Took a rock and knocked some giant on his butt. Became a King. Had an affair with some good looking woman. Had her husband murdered in battle. But yet, somehow got God to say, ” He is a man after my own heart” about him. Don’t make a whole of sense to me, but it does give me some hope for my sorry butt.

Anyways, David in his Psalms often uses the word ‘Selah’. Which I am told in Hebrew means to ‘pause and think’. Now I figure you and me can start using that expression, ‘Selah’ instead of typing all those dots………. Probably make us look a little more educated and all. But to tell you the truth, probably easier for me just to hit the dot………

Good to see you hanging around these parts. Farmboy

That was awesome film of the Zephyr world record run! I knew of the run, but I did not know that film of it still existed! Today the original Zephyr is ‘stuffed & mounted’ on display at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry.
http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=66256
This was a small locomotive by todays standards. The engineer’s cab was very cramped up front.
http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=66255
The diesel engine only took up half the body behind the engineer, and the rear half of the “locomotive” was passenger space! This was a glorified railcar, with a couple more passenger cars fix attached as a single trainset.

One of the more important, but forgotten aspects of this run was the quality of the track! This was old, jointed rails on the mainline, and the track crews had to maintain them to a high standard of ‘level’ with no sagging joints, and heavy, firm ballast. The train’s speed is pretty much limited by the quality of the track it runs on.

Today the last remaining E5 locomotive pulls the Nebraska Zephyr 5-car trainset at the Illinois Rail Museum at Union, IL.  Still in operating condition! http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=482257

Macroman, About Those Chunks of Granite….

Posted by Farmboy @ 20:23 on October 14, 2014

You know, it was just a few weeks ago that another Oasis Dweller asked me to pay that site a visit. Its only about an hours drive from me. You know, ever since I heard about them some ten years ago I always wanted to go do a look see just to satisfy my curiosity. Its one of those things, and I have quite a few, of things I would like to do. But instead of just riding out there for a day to see those stones, I figured might as well take 2-3 days. Kinda hang around the town. Talk to some local folks. Maybe visit the courthouse to see what records I might find. Have also heard some folks hold ‘Satanic Services’ out there from time to time. I probably should look around and find me one of those Satanic Worshippers, and get some good dates on when they might decide to have one of their ‘celebrations’ out there. And then there is the planning. Pretty sure I will need some topo’s of the area, study those Google maps, and get some night vision gear. In short, if I am going to pay that place a visit, might as well go prepared. Which reminds me, its time to clean my ole Colt .45. I seem to have this attraction to trouble. Especially if it uses broom transportation.

But if I ever get out there, I will post what I see and hear. Best Farmboy

Ps) and one other thing, keep your Silver Maple. But I figure if I am going to go to all that trouble to ‘scope it out’, it no sense in me leaving a mission half done. You can send me any extra dynamite you have laying around. I promise to put it to good use. 🙂

Argentina Becomes Venezuela With The Passage Of This Law

Tyler Durden’s pictureSubmitted by Tyler Durden on 10/14/2014 16:39 -0400

Submitted by Simon Black via Sovereign Man blog,

In the pantheon of utter political stupidity in our time, the competition is pretty fierce to see who ranks #1.

But I have to imagine that, even with so many rivals, Argentina’s Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner makes a pretty compelling argument to be the champion.

And though the productive class of Argentina is no stranger to being vilified by a populist government whose grasp on power rests on praising the dignity of poverty, Cristina has managed to take things to an entirely new level.

Exhibit A: Argentina’s new ‘supply law’, or Ley de Abastecimiento, due to take effect in December next year.

Under this new law, the government will have the honorable burden of defending consumers from greedy producers.

Companies are now prohibited from setting their prices too high, generating too much profit, or producing too little.

And unlike the country’s astronomically high taxes (which at least have defined numbers and penalties), the new supply law doesn’t even say what is meant by too high, too many, or too little.

It simply reinforces the government’s unchecked power to arbitrarily audit, fine, shut down, and expropriate production of private companies.

Argentina’s government has already been maintaining “voluntary” price controls on over 400 consumer products for the past year, all in the name of combating the inflation that they themselves created.

And as any high school economics student can tell you, price controls create… SHORTAGES. Duh.

The very first thing I would do as president would be to levy a fine on every member of the Senate, House, the Supremes, and the Justus Department…15% of their net worth…for not doing their job, which includes endangering all Americans.  I’d give them six days to come up with the funds and if no funds were forthcoming in that time frame, their bank accounts would be frozen, their houses and their vehicles confiscated, and an additional fine of $100,000 per day until their debt to the country was paid in full.

Are you sure you want me to be president, lol?

Allow me …..once upon a long time ago….other masters ..tried ..to write ..a foundation of last  rights for all ..The very best written..words in that time frame  ..then we are here.. They knew the old  “master” ..

To all those not understanding  this message ,i wish you all well

Just a note ..you know and I know ..this is not an illusion but their end game..
