Data Dependent Fed Ignores ‘Data’ – Bullard Joins Williams In Call For QE4

Tyler Durden's picture

As yet another fed speaker takes the jawboning lectern today, it is becomingly increasingly clear that The Fed truly has only one mandate – to keep stocks up. While claiming to be “data-dependent”, which judging by the general trend of government-supplied data (and President Obama), things are going great; Jim Bullard joins his intervention-prone colleague Williams:

BULLARD SAYS BOND PURCHASES SHOULD BE DATA DEPENDENT

and

SAYS ‘U.S. FUNDAMENTALS REMAIN STRONG’

but

BULLARD SAYS FED SHOULD CONSIDER DELAY IN ENDING QE.

An Egyptian Intervention in Libya

Posted by ipso facto @ 12:14 on October 16, 2014

Two Egyptian officials claimed the country’s warplanes had begun bombing positions in Benghazi, the second-largest city in neighboring Libya, on Wednesday, in an attempt to wrest control of the city from the Ansar-al-Sharia Islamist militia. The mission, which will be led by Libyan pilots, marks the highest-profile collaboration between the two North African countries, both of which are beset by instability, since they experienced simultaneous Arab Spring revolutions in 2011. The Egyptian government has officially denied the news.

According to the Associated Press, the mission is slated to last three to six months and will “eventually involve Libyan ground troops recently trained by Egyptian forces.”

Prophecy Coal to buy high-grade Bolivian silver producer

Posted by ipso facto @ 11:02 on October 16, 2014

TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Vancouver-based Prophecy Coal on Wednesday announced that it had agreed to buy two of TSX-V-listed Apogee Silver’s subsidiaries in order to acquire the Pulacayo-Paca silver/lead/zinc mine, in Bolivia.

Prophecy Coal has a diverse portfolio of projects including coal mining and thermal power generation assets in Mongolia, as well as vanadium, molybdenum and copper exploration projects in Canada. The transaction would open the door for it to become a high-grade silver producer in the not too distant future.

Under a binding letter of intent, Prophecy would pay Apogee $250 000 in cash and issue to Apogee 60-million Class B convertible nonvoting shares.

ted nugent interview

Posted by treefrog @ 10:58 on October 16, 2014

Ted Nugent, rock star and avid bow hunter from Michigan, was being interviewed by a liberal journalist who is also an animal rights activist.

The discussion came around to deer hunting.

The journalist asked, “What do you think is the last thought in the head of a deer before you shoot him? Is it, ‘Are you my friend?’ or is it ‘Are
you the one who killed my brother?'”

Nugent replied, “Deer aren’t capable of that kind of thinking. All they care about is what am I going to eat next, who am I going to screw next,
and can I run fast enough to get away. They are very much like the Democrats in Congress.”

The interview ended.

The last couple of days the PM shares have given up their gains late in the day. Perhaps today we keep them.

I like the action lately. The times they are a-changing.

Ipso-the PM stocks have been well bid-gold’s down 4.50 and jnug up 3.19%–but they can’t get far on their own

so, mission accomplished for the Cartel-they wanted to crash gold-like in 2008-along with stocks but must be satisfied with keeping them in place.

Islamic State ‘being driven out of Syria’s Kobane’

Posted by ipso facto @ 10:26 on October 16, 2014

The Islamic State militant group has been driven out of most of the northern Syrian town of Kobane, a Kurdish commander tells the BBC.

Baharin Kandal said Islamic State (IS) fighters had retreated from all areas of the border town, except for two pockets of resistance in the east.

US-led air strikes had helped push back the militants, she added.

It comes as the new UN commissioner for human rights described IS as a “potentially genocidal” movement.

Baharin Kandal, who commands Kurds fighting in east Kobane, said in a phone interview with the BBC’s Kasra Naji that she hoped the city would be liberated soon.

Ms Kandal said her militia group had been receiving arms, supplies and fighters but she refused to say how, our correspondent on the Turkish border near Kobane says.

The battle for Kobane, which is also known as Ayn al-Arab, is regarded as a major test of whether the US-led coalition’s air campaign can push back IS.

I think chocolate makers are worried because when I buy chocolate right now, I think to myself, man o man this stuff is expensive. And the sad part is that chocolate in the USA isn’t even chocolate. They’ve changed the formula to cheat people and keep the price artificially lower. Look at a Herseys bar some time. Hey Mr Hershey, what the hell is PGPR and why’s some lab chemical in my chocolate? Don’t worry about that son, move along. If the price goes up, people will simply stop buying. No demand, no sales. Companies will disappear.

Children in cocoa production

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Boy collecting cocoa after beans have dried

The widespread use of children in cocoa production is controversial, not only for the concerns about child labor and exploitation, but also because up to 12,000 of the 200,000 children working in Côte d’Ivoire, the world’s biggest producer of cocoa,[1] may be victims of trafficking or slavery.[2] Most attention on this subject has focused on West Africa, which collectively supplies 69 percent of the world’s cocoa,[3] and Côte d’Ivoire in particular, which supplies 35 percent of the world’s cocoa.[3] Thirty percent of children under age 15 in sub-Saharan Africa are child laborers, mostly in agricultural activities including cocoa farming.[4] It is estimated that more than 1.8 million children in West Africa are involved in growing cocoa.[5] Major chocolate producers, such as Nestle, buy cocoa at commodities exchanges where Ivorian cocoa is mixed with other cocoa.[6]

Coaoa prices will rise because Labor will avoid areas where  Ebola  spreads leaving the crop to rot.

Higher prices will result. Obama bringing Ebola Patients here only makes the worlds largest consumer of Chocolate more aware and scared of possible food contamination an area that has not been studied .It appears to be remote ,but hasen’t been investigated. When 69 % of a food crop comes from an area that is responsible for 100 % of ebola cases some testing needs to be done.   Chocolate Lovers may need to stock up before the Scare gets exported.
