It’s 2007 All Over… Except the Fed is Effectively Out of Ammo

Submitted by Phoenix Capital Research on 11/03/2014 10:16 -0500

The markets erupted last week to new highs on the Bank of Japan’s announcement that it would increase its massive QE program.

The Yen collapsed on the news and is now on the cusp of breaking a multi-decade support line:

While US stocks eked out a new high:

This move is very reminiscent of the 2007 top. At that time we had a top, followed by a quick correction and then a final blow off to eke out new record highs:

It is not merely the market that is mirroring the 2007 top.

1. Corporate debt is back to 2007 PEAK levels.

2. Stock buybacks are back to 2007 PEAK levels.

3. Investor bullishness is back to 2007 PEAK levels.

4. Margin debt (money borrowed to buy stocks) is at 2007 PEAK levels.

5. The leveraged loan market is flashing major warnings.

6. Corporate insiders are dumping shares at a pace not seen since the TECH BUBBLE TOP

7. Numerous investment legends have warned of a coming crash.

8. Investor complacency is at a record LOW.

9. The Fed has confirmed QE is ending this week, so the juice is cut off for now.

The Fed has succeeded in recreating the same environment that existed in 2007. Once again we have rampant risk taking, excessive leverage, and a stock market bubble.

The only difference is that WHEN (it’s no longer a question of IF), stocks collapse this time around, the Fed has already spent just about ALL of its ammunition. Interest rates are at ZERO, so the Fed cannot cut rates.

Ps What I’m saying is their tactic to steal from people using threats  is a way of getting a confession out of them even if untrue or false. They can them use that against them saying well they gave me the money for fear of prosecution and now they want it back and will use it against them. There a bunch of low lives but until people call them on their threats and cost the courts more than it’s worth it will just make it easy on them to go around robbing people. Don’t think they want it in the news cops going around arresting innocent people to rob them of their money. The way they are doing it doesn’t hit the media or pressure law makers people should kick to the curb anyways.

People do ask and they do check where things come from. I don’t think their goodsade in mass  especially furniture cloths and many appliances and furniture are higher quality either. People find made in USA made 100 years ago called antiques as well as Europe. Don’t think the same will be said for their junk, I mean stuff. Lots was going on and people need to just go online and check with their legislators and congressman their proposals and start calling them up. Stores can’t buy what’s not there. In their minds them as well as courts like the thefts going on they think if no one complains them they are okay with what they’re doing. That’s their excuse. Even if what their doing isn’t legal under their watch.

Kim, I read somewhere the overfed spoiled brat had gout and that wouldn’t surprise me while people there even children starve in the streets.because there’s nothing US wants there these atrocities go on.

As far as chasing cars with cash I  suspect that they have some electronic ability to detect cash on persons through bar codes, chips, whatever. Maybe why they searched his car presumably without his permission. I think the threats are a tactic because they make it easy to take the money without having to charge people for a crime when there was none than the person trying to get it back from the true criminals. If more people went ahead said go ahead arrest me it wouldn’t be good for them as would cause a outrage.

Not Again! US Trained Syrian “Moderates” Surrender To Jihadists – Hand Over Heavy Weapons

Tyler Durden’s pictureSubmitted by Tyler Durden on 11/03/2014 09:46 -0500

Despite the Obama Administration continuing to insist that its strategy in Syria is “working,” The Telegraph reports that two of the main rebel groups receiving weapons from the US to fight both the regime and jihadist groups in Syria have surrendered to al-Qaeda. Rather stunningly, the Syrian Revolutionary Front, one of the largest “vetted, moderate” US-backed rebel forces, has been effectively wiped out; and has handed over all their weapons and bases including US-provided anti-tank missiles and GRAD rockets. Simply out, “as a movement, the SRF is effectively finished,” but apart from that US foreign policy is ‘nailing it’. As The Telegraph concludes, for the US, the weapons they supplied falling into the hands of al-Qaeda is a realisation of a nightmare.

Germany threatens to kick out UK from EU

Posted by ipso facto @ 10:26 on November 3, 2014

David Cameron has been warned by German chancellor Angela Merkel that she would rather see the UK leave the European Union than change freedom of movement rules, according to reports.

Downing Street on Sunday did not deny that the conversation had taken place, after German newspaper Der Spiegel said Merkel had rejected Cameron’s demands for a cap on unskilled migrants. Sources told the newspaper that the chancellor said demands for any changes to freedom of movement rules represented a “point of no return” and that this would be it for the UK’s membership.

Over the weekend, the Sunday Times also reported that the prime minister has dropped plans for quotas in a bid to placate the Germans and that Cameron is now looking at whether the government can ask EU immigrants to leave the country unless they can support themselves within three months of arriving in the UK.

Asked whether the Der Spiegel report was an accurate account of the encounter between Cameron and Merkel, a Number 10 official would only say: “The prime minister will do what is right for Britain as he has repeatedly made clear.”

However, a spokesman for the German chancellor indirectly confirmed Der Spiegel’s report by reiterating a statement Merkel had made at a press conference after the recent EU summit: “Germany does not want to touch the basic principle of free movement of persons within the EU.”

No hope for Ring of Fire, says Cliffs CEO

Posted by ipso facto @ 10:22 on November 3, 2014

A Canadian region once touted as Ontario’s answer to the oil sands will not be developed anytime soon- according to the CEO of a major stakeholder.

Lourenco Goncalves, head of U.S.-based Cliffs Natural Resources (NYSE:CLF), made the comment during an interview with the Financial Post last week.

“I don’t believe under my watch, and I plan to stay [alive] for the next 50 years… that the Ring of Fire will be developed,” the 55-year-old told the newspaper.

The 4,000-square-kilometre Ring of Fire, located 540 km northeast of Thunder Bay, is home to an estimated $60 billion worth of mineral deposits, and lawmakers say it could bring prosperity to northern Ontario much like the oil sands industry have to northern Alberta. But the region lacks highways, rail lines or reliable power.

Last year Cliffs had to suspend most work on its $3.3 billion Black Thor chromite deposit, citing stalled talks with the province and other political and regulatory problems. The miner had also struggled to win over aboriginal communities. The stoppage came despite Cliffs spending some $500 million building its land position in the region.

There was a period in the last decade when both the US$ and gold were strong

If it comes down to physical demand and some point whether the dollar is strong or not it will not matter. If the euro and the yen are going through the floor (which I agree with) some of that money is going to go into physical metals and it is not a large market. Gold and the dollar should rise together and then gold goes to loonie land when it is finally time for the buck to go.

Also the fact that the yen could weaken due to insolvency would be a read through to the US insolvency as well. Stated debt in the is up over 200% since the gold bull began and that is not even talking about entitlement programs.
Technically gold has a shot at getting back into the range even next week. If it does even the bears would have to think.

$HUI down over 75% since the top. Rarefied depths IMO.

Gold is rare unlike coal and some other bombed markets. It should not be viewed as such.

This policy really ticks me off …

Warning: Avoid This Corrupt, Third-World Country At All Costs

Tyler Durden’s pictureSubmitted by Tyler Durden on 11/01/2014 23:02 -0400

Submitted by Simon Black via Sovereign Man blog,

John Anderson, an American tourist from San Clemente, California, was driving down a poorly-maintained highway when he saw flashing lights in his rearview mirror.

After a brief exchange with the local police officer, Anderson was shocked when the cop started searching his vehicle.

Anderson had $25,180 in US dollar cash in the car, which by the way was not a crime according to the local laws.

When the cop saw it, he told Anderson that we would take it and threatened him with arrest if he protested.

Anderson couldn’t believe it. This is the sort of stuff you always hear about in these third world countries—corrupt cops and state robbery.

Ultimately Anderson gave in; the cop let him go and did not charge him with a crime, but took every last penny in the vehicle.

And for the last two years, Anderson has been trying to unsuccessfully fight it in the country’s Kangaroo court system.

ekm1

Prices are set by signals into computers not by humans talking to each other.

This is not a market. This is a video game, pure and simple.

Fed has created $4 trillion excess reserves which is STOCK.

This stock can be used to recycle Dow to 50k by next month, or simply just type in numbers when even that fails.

As I said over and over:

This is a video game like Sony Playstation Network, not a market.

You have no chance. Hence the world is just quitting the system and going local.

Well said, agreed. Re this one part…..

“even if people wanted to buy USA made they couldn’t.”

Many years ago….Even if people wanted to buy ORGANIC FOODS, they couldn’t. But people wanted them and kept asking for them in super markets, and now we have entire sections, because people WANTED that.

Unfortunately, unpatriotic, uninformed Americans don’t ask store managers for US made stuff, for preserving high living standards. Spending on an import is like paying a tax to the global gov’t.

It used to be the United States of America. Today? Its the United Countries of Earth. And don’t try secession from the union.
