Rich,
The “Gold Train” started out in the last century as a bit of comedic joke between Wanka and me…. several bulletin boards back… in the dark ages… and has grown a life of it’s own. We’re all still on that ride…
Back in Hawaii there was once a steam ‘sugar cane train’ around the island about the turn of the century. The RR Museum historians tell of the engineers stopping the train out at the northwest point of the island to go fishing. The fresh catch was then placed on the firebox to cook as they continued on down the rails…. with a hot lunch waiting for them at the end.
