Since gold’s been capped around $1200 lately maybe people are selling miners around $1200 gold and buying them back around $1180? Rinse and repeat, it works until it doesn’t.

Boot on neck of miners

Posted by Buygold @ 10:52 on May 5, 2015

So, despite recent relative strength in the miners we finally get a couple of decent days in the metals and the miners are stuffed.

They just never let ya win. Probably means a metal smack down on Friday’s jobs report.

EU says seeking closer security cooperation with China

Posted by ipso facto @ 9:50 on May 5, 2015

(Reuters) – Europe aims to improve security and defense cooperation with China, especially in the Middle East and in the fight against human trafficking, the European Union’s foreign policy chief said on Tuesday following high-level talks in Beijing.

Federica Mogherini’s two-day visit comes as Beijing launches a diplomatic offensive to move Sino-European relations beyond trade and raise China’s international profile, buoyed by its success winning European participation in a new Asian bank.

Trade is still at the core of the relationship, worth 467 billion euros ($519 billion) last year, but China’s bid to deepen cooperation on world affairs resonates with the EU as it seeks to forge a more unified foreign policy among its 28 member countries.

Mogherini told reporters during a joint appearance with China’s top diplomat, State Councillor Yang Jiechi, that the two discussed “concrete possibilities” of strengthening security and defense ties, pointing to the example of successful anti-piracy cooperation in the Gulf of Aden.

“We also discussed the situation in Iraq and Syria and briefly in Libya, where the European Union and China share common interests and where our joint efforts could make a real difference,” Mogherini said.

She said both sides had reiterated that the conflict in Ukraine can only be solved diplomatically with “full respect for Ukraine’s sovereignty”.

Go ahead and find some loud music to keep us nightowls  hooting!  Harry’s “WOLD” was a sad and true commentary on some of the people I worked with in my early days in radio.  I was the engineer geek… never the DJ.

I have one friend who’s had 3 (!) knee replacements, another who  broke a hip, another who dropped dead jogging, and they think I should exercise more…

The tent needs a ruffle or two or else I’ll turn it into a music station…

I like Cats in the Craddle but I dislike this song. Maybe if he changed the W to a G, I’d appreciate more….

I guess ole Harry was lucky on the Mafia treadmill afterall…

China’s SGE gold flows still at high level – 51t last week

Posted by ipso facto @ 10:43 on May 4, 2015

For the second week in a row, gold withdrawals from China’s Shanghai Gold Exchange (SGE) have been at around 50 tonnes – a high level for the post Chinese New Year period. Withdrawals from the exchange for the first 16 weeks of the year have already reached around 780 tonnes suggesting that if flows out of the SGE are maintained we could be in for a new record year with withdrawals well in excess of those of 2013, which totalled almost 2,200 tonnes. As we have said in these pages before, whether one considers SGE withdrawal figures to equate to Chinese gold demand, which the Peoples Bank of China would seem to suggest, or whether the true consumption figure is actually quite a bit lower as the mainstream gold analysts reckon, they still remain an excellent indicator of demand growth or fall in the world’s biggest market for the yellow metal.
