Over time the labor dept under reported the inflation rate, and allowed the minimum wage to erode, and now they have problems in the retail sector. And tax receipts sector. Many employees are not paid enough to even pay taxes, plus they get food stamps, and Medicaid.
The low wage business owner is actually being subsidized by the tax paying sector. A higher minimum wage if mandated would actually be in reality, a net tax increase for businesses. A REVERSAL or end of a 50 year tax subsidy.
