Nikkei down 555

Posted by Auandag @ 22:41 on February 2, 2016
The Japanese Central Bank bought itself what amounted to a one-day monster bounce in the market.

Tonight, Kuroda (the JCB head) gave a nice speech about playing Draghi — “what it takes”, you know.

Nobody believed him.  As I write this the Nikkei is down over 500 points, 3.5%.  His “rally” is now, for all intents and purposes, gone.

They shouldn’t believe him either; negative interest rates are nothing more than a scam as I’ve pointed out — they are the central bank equivalent of “Beatings will continue until morale improves.”

How’s that work for ‘ya, if you don’t mind my asking?

There’s a bigger problem afoot, however — I’ve seen some analysis that say that not only Deutsche Bank may be in trouble but so may other major international institutions — including Citibank.  One of those people believes Citi is a zero.

Needless to say if that’s true — or even if it’s not, but some of the other major International financial institutions are (e.g. Deutsche Bank) our markets won’t be trading anywhere near Dow 16,000 or S&P 1900.  More like Dow 6,000 and S&P 700 are on deck, if we’re lucky.

Yep, a round-trip from 2009.

Now that would be quite the kick in the nuts, and honestly — we have it coming due to our refusal as citizens to demand and enforce a return of the rule of law and an honest accounting of these firms liabilities and assets — with nice long prison terms for those who have lied.

Since we didn’t, and we still don’t, we get to endure what’s on tap now instead of taking our medicine then and being well on the road to actual recovery.

You can be sure I’ll never call Donald Trump a clown again. It’s more than my life is worth.

It’s sad, because I like clowns.

In all fairness, if you’ve been following the dialogue, Margaret isn’t the attackee, she is the attacker.  From my perspective, all Samb is trying to do is teach her a much needed lesson.

Hillary has been incredibly lucky ever since her cattle futures trade. Wonder why she never traded futures again?

The corruption here makes third world slimeballs look like saints!

The federal reserves prints trillions, ships it to slimeballs via Wall Street, and the taxpayers pay the corresponding debt.

Trump is no saint, but he hates the fed and irs. His policies would put us in a depression, but the system needs to be cleansed and the debt repudiated.

McEwen Mining Regains Compliance With NYSE Listing Standards

GlobeNewswire

TORONTO, Feb. 02, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — McEwen Mining Inc. (MUX) (MUX) is pleased to announce receipt of notification from the New York Stock Exchange (the “NYSE”) that it has regained compliance with the NYSE’s continued listing standards regarding the minimum price of its common stock.

Chief Owner, Rob McEwen, stated: “This is wonderful news and it highlights our strong operational performance in 2015, where we increased our gold/silver production, decreased our production cost/oz., generated free cash flow and steadily built our treasury over the year. Also, during the year we declared and paid our first ever semi-annual capital distribution.  Our share price appreciation since July, 2015 reflects the value in exercising financial discipline and resisting the temptation to finance at the bottom of the market. We refused to give away our future upside. We have not and will not sell metal streams, sell royalties or hedge our future production. At this time, we are debt free, we have $33 million in cash and bullion.  As you can see, we have no pressure on our balance sheet and we will be paying our second capital distribution on February 12th. This is a great way to start 2016.”

The yield on the 10 yr closed at 1.86% today. Really not a good sign for the economy, the SM, or maybe even the USD.

Futures are getting spanked tonight yet again.

All we need now is for gold and silver to act like monetary metals. Tall order.

Very well said. Rubio indeed was in the gang of eight. He will open our borders and give amnesty like no other before him.

Your not the only one that thinks it will be Rubio. He said from memory, he was watching news 24/7 and all pointed to Rubio and that of they can get Trump out of the way they will get rid of Cruz next. That Rubio like the others is just another liberal with R in front  of his name. Who was in the Gang of eight?

Hi Goldie

Posted by Buygold @ 20:25 on February 2, 2016

Armstrong fails to acknowledge Rubio. IMHO Cruz is the distraction to pull eyes away from Trump. Rubio is the Republicrat prize. Whether it’s Rubio, Hitlery or Sanders the Neocons win. JMHO

I will bet my house that Rubio is Repulicrat nominee.

Back sooner than I thought for awhile anyways. Don’t know if that’s bad or good about your elections. Hope it’s good. For one thing you probably don’t have a bunch of different groups coming across the boarder including illegally wanting special treatment and probably have real healthcare not coverage and no healthcare amongst a lot of other issues. As far as that certain person, maybe tell him if he wants cookies he needs to put some dough on the table.

Well what happens next? I wonder.

I agree in that he is the closest we can get right now. If now it will result in the same chaos got my on elsewhere.  It’s getting totally out of control. So much going on here kinda distracted  one of my friends nephew a little guy laying in ER with a nasty gash on his head caused by a accident by drunk driver. That and few other things. Have a nice day keep on keeping on.

FWIW – on Iowa

Posted by old-timer @ 17:09 on February 2, 2016

My penny’s worth of thoughtlessness  on the Iowa caucus.

Last night, even mainstream media was reporting that Republican caucus were un prepared for the number of newbies.  Short of paperwork/forms.

Reminded me of my first encounter with the morlocks who run the R’s when I showed up for Ron Paul for the 2008 run.

They pulled out all kinds of stunts to dilute our numbers.

They called us “Paulistas”.

We were new and under informed about procedures, and so, easily overrun.

Although in 2012 we were much better prepared and organized, they abandoned their own rules to diminish our effectiveness.

I even reported those events here.

No need to tell the results.  We are living with them.

Now, some people seem to think Trump or Sanders will be the new Obama – change we can count on, believe in, make happen – pick one.

The parties, both R’s and D’s believe they still have all the buttons under their control.

I think we are all in for a very big surprise, and it will not be fun for anyone.

I think I’m going to write-in our local weatherman for president.

goldielocks @ 16:14….Trump and TPTB international smear campaign

Posted by silverngold @ 17:08 on February 2, 2016

I don’t watch the MSM but when the subject of Trump comes up I almost always get the “you gotta be kidding” look from my Canadian friends. My wife feels the same but has been poisoned by the MSM, her nurse friends, and her  relatives in Switzerland where she just returned from visiting, all giving Trump a thumbs down because of what the MSM doles out to them.

For myself, if I had a vote I would vote for Trump simply on the basis of his business success and his honesty and integrity. I am sick to DEATH of these politicians spewing their lies through the MSM who at the same time make Trump out to be a loose cannon that would destroy the world if elected.

IMO this is America’s last chance to right itself…..and the only candidate who seems willing and capable of doing so is Trump…..but even Trump would be fighting a losing battle unless money/bribery/revolving door is taken out of Congress and the Whitehouse.

Wake up now America. IMO this is your last chance to get it right!!

I know people there personally that were trying to get voters out there. I don’t know if the weather had anything to do with it but in some places it’s pretty cold. Nevertheless MA about summed it up. Some also think shadow gov wants Rubio. I’m not sure they may be testing the waters but same ol same ol micromanagement will cost them the election. I don’t think they want Killary either but they don’t have much options. Multi channels I scanned all trying to talk away Trump and was sickening to see.

MA on Caucuses

Posted by goldielocks @ 16:47 on February 2, 2016

Martin Armstrong  makes good points.
As to be expected, the Republicans are up to dirty tricks to try to prevent Trump from being the candidate. In the Iowa Caucus, reports are surfacing that volunteers are saying that their precincts were being combined into one large mob to push the vote to Cruz. Iowa was always a rigged game and generally only 1 in 6 people eligible to vote bother to show up. The political elite have typically tried to manipulate the election results showing that Joseph Stalin was not so off base by says voters never decide elections.
Reports are coming in stating that combining precincts neutralized the “caucus” process entirely. Rep. Steven King was in on it tweeting that Carson was out of the race which was bot true. Ben Carson is outraged.
long, hard, road ahead and they will do everything possible to rob the election from him in the primary. If they cannot rob the election from him, he will be assassinated.

The vote is in and Senator Ted Cruz has come out on top in the presidential caucuses in Iowa, beating Donald Trump. The Democratic vote resulted in a virtual dead heat between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. Iowa, unfortunately, always votes religion before practical economics and it will ultimately be their own economic doom. Well, Christ did say, “Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.” Well with Cruz or Hillary in office, Goldman Sachs will pull the strings so get ready to hand it all to Caesar, for he is coming after you to pay for his folly and corruption.

Cruz had to win Iowa, for he is the conservative lawmaker who served Chic Fil-A at his victory party back in 2012 because they are a religious-based company that is anti-liberal and closed on Sunday. He would have been doomed if he did not win Iowa. Cruz won with 27.7% of the vote compared to 24.3% for Trump, which was not overwhelming, while the establishment candidate Jeb Bush came in with 2.8%. You have to wonder if the 2.8% reflects those who drank too much or aliens living among us.

This religious focus will not play well outside the Bible Belt, for the majority believe in a separation of church and state or you end up with Iran or the ISIS model. It sort of makes a mockery of the right to freedom of religion. If the tables were turned and the majority became Muslim, would they have a right to impose laws on Christians? The Ottoman Empire was famous for forced conversions, as were the Spanish upon the natives of South America. Accept or die has never been the definition of “freedom.” One must accept another’s beliefs so they themselves can exercise their own. As they say, that’s God’s job. He will sort things out.

Iowa has never been a place that picks the winner. In fact, the ONLY president they have ever picked was George W. Bush and they have an uncanny ability to pick losers. So a Cruz victory means he should line his pockets to pay off Goldman Sachs since he is not likely to win nationally.

Here is Iowa’s track record (national candidate in bold):

1976 (January 19): Gerald Ford (45%) and Ronald Reagan (43%)
1980 (January 21): George H. W. Bush (32%), Ronald Reagan (30%), Howard Baker (15%), John Connally (9%), Phil Crane (7%), John B. Anderson (4%), and Bob Dole (2%)
1984 (February 20): Ronald Reagan(unopposed)
1988 (February 8): Bob Dole (37%), Pat Robertson (25%), George H. W. Bush(19%), Jack Kemp (11%), and Pete DuPont (7%)
1992 (February 10): George H. W. Bush(unopposed)
1996 (February 12): Bob Dole (26%), Pat Buchanan (23%), Lamar Alexander (18%), Steve Forbes (10%), Phil Gramm (9%), Alan Keyes (7%), Richard Lugar (4%), and Morry Taylor (1%)
2000 (January 24): George W. Bush(41%), Steve Forbes (31%), Alan Keyes (14%), Gary Bauer (9%), John McCain (5%), and Orrin Hatch (1%)
2004 (January 19): George W. Bush(unopposed)
2008 (January 3): Mike Huckabee (34%), Mitt Romney (25%), Fred Thompson (13%), John McCain (13%), Ron Paul (10%), Rudy Giuliani (4%), and Duncan Hunter (1%)
2012 (January 3): Rick Santorum (25%), Mitt Romney (25%), Ron Paul (21%), Newt Gingrich (13%), Rick Perry (10%), Michele Bachmann (5%), and Jon Huntsman (0.6%)
2016 (February 1): Ted Cruz (27.7%), Donald Trump (24.3%), Marco Rubio (23.1%), Ben Carson (9.3%), Rand Paul (4.5%), Jeb Bush (2.8%), Carly Fiorina, John Kasich, Mike Huckabee, and Chris Christie each had 2% of the vote. Rick Santorum had 1%, and Jim Gilmore had 0%. After results were announced, Huckabee ended his campaign.

Margaret if we here were asked about the politics of NZ or Australia we would fail to know much even though it doesn’t reflect on our intelligence as you who are quite intelligent but could set us up for responses as such. Mysterious coin flips hand Iowa to Hillary

February 2, 2016 |83 Comments

Polls showed for weeks that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders were locked in a tight horse race in Iowa.

But nobody expected last night’s Iowa caucuses to be decided by a flip of a coin — or, more precisely, six very suspicious coin flips.

The race between Clinton and Sanders was the closest in Iowa caucus history, the state Democratic Party said, despite the fact that Clinton had once enjoyed a double-digit lead in the state.

It was so close, in fact, that six delegates were assigned based on coin flips ordered by the state Democratic Party.

Monday in Ames, Davenport, Newton, West Branch, and two precincts in Des Moines, there were six delegates who were not assigned to either Clinton or Sanders under Iowa’s caucus voting rules. The problem, in at least two cases, was caused by caucus goers who mysteriously disappeared throughout the night.

Because the voting was so close between Clinton and Sanders, the state Democratic party ordered that the delegates would be assigned based on coin flips.

Clinton won all six flips — something that only has a 1.56 percent chance of happening — and got all the delegates.

And, unbelievably, that was enough for her to carry the state.

Clinton ended up earning four more delegates overall than Sanders in Iowa (699.57 delegates to 695.49), thanks in large part to some lucky coin flips.

It was a fortunate result for Clinton — but not exactly the momentum she’d been hoping for as she heads to New Hampshire, where she is currently trailing Sanders badly.
