Canada’s energy regulator approves Trans Mountain pipeline despite First Nation, Green backlash

Posted by ipso facto @ 10:17 on May 20, 2016

Human rights, tribal resources and the death of endangered species aside, Canada’s energy regulators think it’s a great idea to greenlight an oil shipping lane that would boost transportation sevenfold. The project is facing fierce opposition.

The National Energy Board ended up recommending the Trudeau government go ahead with the Trans Mountain oil sands pipeline – a CA$6.8 billion Canadian (US$5.4 billion) project that will run through the Salish Sea and boost pipeline capacity from 300,000 to 890,000 barrels of crude a day. The shipping lane will be used to carry Alberta’s oil over to British Columbia, to then be loaded onto tankers for export to the US and Asia. When (and if) complete, the project will see 350 additional tankers annually travel those waters. The federal government now has seven months to reach a final decision.

Yamana to buy Samco’s Corina project after P&O agreement cancelled

Posted by ipso facto @ 10:08 on May 20, 2016

TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – TSX-V-listed explorer Samco Gold has terminated a 2014 participation and option (P&O) agreement with director Dr Ricardo Auriemma after a strategic review of its business, instead opting to enter into an agreement with Yamana Gold for the sale of the company’s Corina property, located adjacent to Yamana’s Cerro Moro property, in Santa Cruz, Argentina.

Read where Ryan and Obama were talking about bailing out Puerto Rico (70 billion), perhaps after that they can find their way to bail out those Illinois pension funds. Its only money afterall. <spit> 🙁

That’s a friggin disaster with no easy answers … and when Illinois goes BK who’s going to pick up the bill? You just know there’ll be a concerted effort to have the Feds pick it up, the US taxpayer pay the bill for these incredible benefits and payrolls. Eff that!

I think that steel tariff story is true. I’ve read it elsewhere such as:

Those union folk should be offering up a 29% pay cut with the ‘savings’ going to shore up their looming pension nightmare.

” The pension mess hasn’t ended at all. Not one bit. Illinoisans still own the worst pension debt in the nation at $111 billion thanks to lawmakers and union chiefs, over decades, agreeing to skip pension payments.”

Comment: I think they should add to the Highest Crime Rate already in the Nation by including the financial crimes that go on in Chicago. Would be a whopper of a number. Sure to keep them in No 1 position for years to come.

I wonder if that ZH story about the tariffs on Chinese steel was actually true. I’d think if it were true it would be blasted all over CNBS this am and the SM would be in trouble. Not hearing it anywhere.

BTW – is that marinated meat being shipped to Africa white meat or dark meat?

I prefer dark meat myself.

Illinois State Workers, Highest Paid In Nation, Demand Up To 29% Wage Hikes

Submitted by Michael Shedlock via MishTalk.com,

Illinois state workers, are the highest paid in the nation.

Yet, despite the fact that Illinois is for all practical purposes insolvent, the AFSCME union demands four-year raises ranging from 11.5 to 29 percent, overtime after 37.5 hours of work per week, five weeks of vacation and enhanced health care coverage.

AFSCME workers already get platinum healthcare benefits that would make nearly everyone in the country green with envy.
