Shocked and upset

In Irish, I found a kindred spirit who put his money (and everything else) where his mouth is.
I looked forward to his posts and his insights.

I lived in Ireland for 12 years and feel I knew him, but I hoped to meet him.

Jack had a big heart. He would stop and talk to anybody and immediately befriend him or her in the process. He was extremely insightful and skillful in reading people. He was pugnacious, unrelenting, earthy and caring.

Jack lately, I felt, was finally in his element, acting as broker in multi-faceted Belizean financial arrangements. He had hit his stride and was about to successfully negotiate the Belizean political and business system.
He had a great sense of humor. I recall the time we went to a small store in Dangriga for some groceries. In Belize, virtually all stores have at least two cashiers, the better to watch each other in effort to forestall employee pilferage. This time though, there were three cashiers. “Which one of you,” Jack asked, “is watching?”, to which they gave each other and then him a strange look, certain he must be some crazy Gringo. “Which one of you is watching the watcher?”, he continued, to which the clerks looked only further bemused. “And,” he persisted, “which one of you is watching the watcher watching the watcher?” By now I was almost peeing my pants but he was indefatigable and continued in this vein for another minute. You had to be there but it was one of the funniest moments of my life.

Jack’s biggest failing, IMO, was his tendency to persist in trust those who failed to retain his trust. Once he considered a person a friend, his tendency was to accommodate that person for aberrations and was inclined to ascribe a positive motive to negative behavior. That was a weakness that I pointed out to him on occasion and one to which he begrudgingly agreed. Even with the Jamaican, he always hoped the guy would come around and fulfill his obligations, sadly never to happen in Jack’s lifetime.

Jack knew so many people, I can’t say I was his best friend but he was certainly mine. We who knew him are enriched by knowing him and grieve his passing. His shoes will not be filled.

ELEGY FOR IRISH

-> Posted by North @ 17:21 pm on May 23, 2012 :: Edit post

First he scared us with a firecracker
he lit on the lawn. We jumped.

Then he sat down to talk about things spiritual.
What an immense being, I thought,
as the explosion could not contain him,
nor my feeble thoughts of God.

Sometimes we meet people
who see things bigger than they are,
with more colors and complexity,
and we realize that they see things this way,
because they contain these colors,
this complexity, just with the ringing sound
in their voice, with a glance
from their eyes.

We need not know anything more,
not their politics or social status,
for these will merely shrink them down
to normal human size,
where, in fact, they are oceanic,
reflecting the sky, its flights, its moods,
its infinite canopy above us.

Farewell Brother

-> Posted by Farmboy @ 17:22 pm on May 23, 2012 :: Edit post

I remember his ultra white Chicago legs as we sat out on the dock of the Belize Yacht Club. It was late in the evening. Starry sky overhead, a gentle Caribbean ocean breeze, and a moon that seemed to be ten times its normal size. A Chicago city boy and a Georgia farm boy, what an odd pair at first glance. Doubt either of us would have spoken if I had met him on some City Street, or he had drove by while I sat on my John Deere. Jack and I talked about a lot of things that evening. One of the topics was Legacy.

We had met several months earlier in Atlanta. Jack had driven down in his Cadillac and we had lunch at the Atlanta Farmers Market. I picked the place, not having ever met him before, I wanted the home territory advantage if things went awry. All we had ever done is toss posts back and forth at Czar Vronskey’s website, when we where able to log in. I knew Jack was into Silver and Gold. That was about it.

The meeting started out with the normal get to know you chit chat. We spoke of our families, some of our background. Talked about Silver and Gold. And talked about God. And politics. He bent my ear for hours. They finally told the two of us we had to leave, it was time for the cook to go home. We parted as friends. Anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting Jack knows how easy that is to do. I was impressed with his broad knowledge on many subjects. And it was a pleasure watching his six draw quick smile and those intense Irish blue eyes interact while he talked. There was a passion inside in he could not easily contain. A passion for life. For what was right. He did not tolerate Gubberment lackeys or fools well. I liked that.

Somewhere during phone calls or emails over the next month he asked where would I go If things got bad in the United States. I told him I liked Belize. Small in size, plenty of natural resources, small population, no conflicts, and they spoke English. Only place in Central or South America that catered to my way of talking, even Southernese English. We decided to make an exploratory trip together . That’s how we ended up sitting on the dock, speaking of Legacies.

We had spent a few days looking into business opportunities. Talked with Offshore Banks, met with an attorney. Looking into the feasibility of Belize as both an opportunity and possible safe haven. That evening, the discussion turned a bit more serious still. Talk of leaving the Country we knew and loved and seeking a new ‘home’. Something we really in our hearts did not want to do, but then, there was our families, children, and friends to consider. What if things got so bad we had to leave to survive or have anything approaching a normal life? We spoke of instead of leaving money, what if we started a business, bought a house on the beach, what if our Legacy would consist of such things. A place of beauty, and refuge if need be.
Jack was the first to sell his home and move with Pat to Belize. I can think of no better man, or team, to start a new life in another country. His drive, instincts, energy all so vital. And did he have dreams! Jack envisioned other Americans seeking refuge. Especially those who had an understanding of thing political, and knew the value of an ounce compared to digital savings in some bank. He was not doing this only for himself. He was blazing a trail so that others could follow. Preparing a beach head that would be a little smoother for the next brave heart.

So tonight, as I sit and think of the many good times I enjoyed in his company. I think his Legacy is far greater than even could imagine sitting on the dock. I think his Legacy includes many friendships he as made along his journey South. The Inspiration he handled out by the bucketful to those around him. The Hope he applied like salve to the wounds of his fellowmen wounded by watching the destruction of our Freedoms and Values. He shared a vision, for those who had lost theirs. It was hard not to be around Jack and not get a dose of Courage. He made you want to yell, “Charge’. The times he would call me on the phone, just to sing a song. Usually something from his church choir. And then just hang up. Leaving me sitting in my chair, with goose bumps, but always feeling better.

Yep, his Legacy is a lot of love he spread around wherever he went. And caring, and giving, trying to help others. And I know at least once, he gave a Silver Dollar tip to a waitress at the Georgia Farmers Market. That was my friend Jack. Im glad his work here was done, and he got his promotion, but I’m gonna miss em. Who else would leave a song on my answering machine?

Bye Jack, Best, Forever, Farmboy

I don’t know how many times I thought of going to Belize to check it out and always thought I had a friend there to show me around. Although we had never met or spoken or exchanged any form of communications I was sure by his postings that any tenter would be welcomed. I’ve lived sixty year on this earth and that is the first time I have ever said that about someone I have never met. He will be dearly missed. “Hey, how about a hand here!” culled from an unfriendly remark I made when he continually failed to lock my vehicle door while in infamous Belize City.

“We’ve only known each other for one day and already we’re sleeping together” uttered during the day of our first meeting and while sharing a room in the Belize City Mopan Hotel.

“You’ve been Belized!” (i.e., shafted), that was Jack’s favorite.

that is my feelings now and as of a few years back when i met them before they moved to beleize. my initial aquaintance with jack began back in the v-ster-boppers days around 2003 when a bunch of us started a private yahoo group called ‘goldbugz’. a simple relief to get out of the confines of v-ster where a group of us could openly stay in touch by email and telephone and meet in person accordingly. the GBZ gang here knows who they are each and every one and jack was part of the troup.
jack and pat visited me and my wife back around 2004-5 area and stayed at the casa marina about 3 short blocks from my old house and spent about a week here in kw and having the time of thier lives dining and drinking [lots of coffee for jack since he was a non boozer] and taking in the sights of the island. one of the afternoons we hung out at the beach bar resturant at the casa marina the entire afternoon which is what buymore spoke of in his post and the talk the comaradrie the laughter the joking and some serious thoughts on gold and silver are highly memorable. jack and pat a good team for sure and the girls [pat and my wife noemi] got along terrificly.
one thing that stands out in my memory was a real comedy when jack wanted a box of 32s since florida is sure not like chi-town and i called my barber to put a box on the side and jack would be there shortly to pick it up. jack was astonished that the barber shop was also a gun dealer with a showcase of guns and ammo supplies ‘right out in the open’. he spoke about that to no end. i told him kw is a very safe place….and polite too! [smile]
the passing of jack is soul touching to me especially so as it was an auto accident something we all joked with him about in driving golf carts. for the newer tenters jack was a catilist in the tents begining in putting audept’s plan foward with himself fullgoldcrown and myself. thats why he was in early evolutions always noted as an admin but never given the back room bunker dashboard keys since he could scramble a computor just by looking at it.

the thought of you being gone weighs heavy
god bless you jack you are missed. john

Irish was my kind of guy. Always optimistic, awaiting the next rally, gusher, strike or the next victory but would settle of helping anyone in need. A “Damn the torpedoes” type guy, the greater the challenge, the tougher the obstacle: the greater his determination to find a solution or a way around the problem. Leaders are not supposed to go like this. I am reminded of George Patton another great leader killed in a car accident. Deadeye

This isn’t creme! It’s 1/2 percent low in milkfat! Don’t dose bastages don’t know how to grade creme? Anybody can tell just by the taste!!

“My people” are ready…

Ahh it’s only a small dent.

We will win in the end buddy

I lost your phone number. Give me a call.

Were gonna get this dang thing off the ground yet

I know we as a group can not only do this, but do it well.

HAAAAAAAAAA

Love ya buddy

I ain’t built to cut and run

One thing for sure — nobody was more responsible for the finest sand supply at the highest quantity in many years in Belize than Irish.

Ms. Aguila and I are shocked. It wasn’t supposed to be like this we reckon. Our support to Pat and Jacqueline and family is sincere, contact us anytime, anytime, here in Alabama. MiniIrish- yes he was a great person with great dreams, great drive, great accomplishments he leaves great memories in our minds and he has made great changes in the direction of many lives including mine. My path has been changed for the butter… err better, and I appreciate it.

Who else would bring their own creme to a fine restaurant? I must admit that it was fine creme though. I’m selling all my Philip Morris USA (Marlboro) stock first thing in the morning.

I have never seen anything quite like what we are seeing here at Goldtent Today

This is one hell of a spontaneous Irish Wake

All of your comments are being compiled into one big post for posterity

I would like to share a couple experiences i had with Irish:

Irish (his Handle was Keano back then) announced his desire to take a ride up to Canada and see FGC and Mme Crown)

He showed up in his beat up old Cadillac about 8 hours late …seems he drove all the way from Chicago to Detroit and noticed he had forgotten his Passport…Pat told me later…he simply said Oh SH!T than turned back went all the way back to Chicago stopped into his home for 10 seconds picked up the passport and headed back down the road without another word about that !

This was mid January and i told him he was nuts to come up here at this time of the year….but when he arrived we had been having a warm snowless winter

He parked his cadillac in the parking lot beside our Inn and I noticed he was wearing moccasins with no socks…

Apparentely thats all the “shoes” he brought

well next day….the blizard of the decade hit !
The Cadillac completely dissapeared for about a week
was a fun week and he kept walking around in those moccasins nonetheless

Next time he showed up mid day….Irish always like to show up with a BANG

so while I was working ….this is a true story….on a patient in an operatory overlooking the back yard and had just put the forcepts to a tooth ready to extract it…I hear a loud Booooom…I jumped back into my seat and the tooth came out in one fell swoop !

Irish had decided to announce his arrival with real fireworks…I kid you not !

I also remember watching the Suerbowl in a local bar with Irish on the phone to his 24 hour broker buying Palladium Futures .

Shelley and I send deep condolences to Pat. Our hearts are with you.

Farmboy and Mobax have written great tributes to Jack so there is little more I can add. He was a special person, and the mold was broken after he came along. Jack was the one who named me Hollywoodgold at one of those first meetings in Tottsville at the inn. Shelley and I spent last Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Jack and Pat’s home in Belize, and the next day Sunday he left on this trip headed to redneckokies. You can imagine the shock at this news. We are still in Belize at this time. Jack and I had a long discussion, the sum of which was that about eighteen months ago, he determined to begin a new approach to the gravel situation. He had spent these months strengthening alliances and making new friends, and in fact, on the day we arrived he received news of a strong bond that had been formed. He was elated and extremely happy. Just add our names to the long list of those that will miss him.
Richard
P.S. From Shelley I cannot believe that on Saturday afternoon Jack and I were sitting in the airport literally holding hands talking, laughing, and hugging bye-for-now. We had such a great visit. Jack cooked up a storm of great food treating us like royalty. He and Richard at the kitchen table, Pat and I in the living room gabbing. It was wonderful.
Hey Irish, RIP

Very sad day. My prayers and best wishes to his wife and family.
He’s the guy that got me over here at GT. When we were all at the other site…I got this email from Jack, saying “Hey Cannuckgold, we got something great going on over here, come check it out” and he pointed me to Gold Tent. It was on my list to meet him some day, he seemed like a guy with such a gusto for life, and a caring guy, and not to mention hilarious!….
The choir of angels have another heavenly voice to join in the refrains…and I am sure, to stir up a little…..

In honour of a great man. Ladybug and I were shocked to hear the news. We met a few times, including Tottsville and while we were in Belize 4 years ago.

To me he was a fellow history buff, the Battling Bastard of Belize. (said with total respect)

“wound my heart with a monotonous languor”

I salute you, Jack. Rest in peace, pal.

Thanks for the pictures of Irish. Hard to wrap my mind around this. He’s like a bright star that just dissapeared unexpectantly. He was hard to hold back from his adventures. That was Irish, always thinking always on the move. He lived life the way he wanted to. Thats what freedom is all about. Won’t be the same without him. But he’s out there somewhere and he’d say keep on keeping on. Hed say Charge tenters.

Logged on to the sad news, cant believe he is gone I always thought of him as indestructible, he was a long way ahead of the curve, he knew how this would end for his country and had the guts to do something about it, my sympathy to his wife and family who were his rock and reason… only the good die young…sad but true….

Irish was never too concerned about making the cover of GQ. Mocs were the footwear of choice.I think the shorts and t-shirt in that picture had a few miles on them too. But, I have known him to wear a suit on a couple of important occassions…one being invited to join the Elks Lodge. He was suree excited that night.

His passion and boundless energy in everything he did amazed me. Always going flat out everytime I was with him. He was always looking for the next opportunity. I remember when he showed up at Tottsville. Godfather and I were on the patio out back and his entrance was as always an event, his legs covered with bug bites from working at the gravel site, and you knew with his arrival the meeting would be an event to remember. And it was.

Relocating to Belize is still an option Dani and I are considering. Jack was the trailblazer and convinced me and many others that was the place.

I would have a drink to his memory, but he was partially instrumental in my giving up alcohol completely over a year ago. So I will drink some Maxwell House and celebrate his life-too short, never dull..

The last time I stayed with him in Belize we had a few
disagreements and argured into the late night. He said the great thing about about real friends is they can fight and be better friends for it.

I had planned to go to Belize in March. But, my Mom’s health issues caused me to postpone the trip. I will regret not having made that trip then always. So much was left unresolved which all seems so unimportant now. We’ll catch up in the next life. I will miss him-he was a unique individual.
I hope Pat gets though this alright. If you read this Pat and need anything,
anything at all call me.

MO-email when you get a chance.

Each of us, blessed to know, or read, Irish, hurt… deeply.
Beyond the many gifts he held, and gave, the plans he followed, he walked the talk.
He lived in the moment, thinking ahead, but never leaving the moment God had granted him. He lived, a shining light of soul freedom, unencumbered by rules of binding normalacy, with a genuine love of others, shown by action.
His shoes, difficult to fill, as no one can. The paths he left, will continue, in the hearts, minds, and actions of those he touched.

Little Irish, your Dad, was, is, and will be loved.

Miss Pat, our door and hearts are open to you.

You’re most welcome. I was happy that I had those pics and could post them for all to enjoy.. Only Jack could get away with wearing flowers in his ear , a baseball cap that says “What goes on in Belize , stays in Belize” while batting his devilish blue eyes .

Thanks so much for your heartfelt post. You had me both laughing and crying. It encapsulates him well. He has left an indelible mark in some peoples lives, he has.

To your point :
“So much was left unresolved which all seems so unimportant now”

So true ..sadly.. It’s no secret that Jack and I also had disagreements over the years .
We had a tenuous truce (smile) going on from our last e-mail exchange. No seriously, we had made peace. But you know he loved to argue, and I was always happy to oblige. (gg)

Scum are all over these mkts, dunno if u have a 1 minute spot gold chart…but if you have @ 1 am last night UK time, gold broke up bullishly on short term charts to 1252.50, haveing been pretty quite before, as it consolidated, it was immediately hit back to sub 1250 and the next minute knocked back to @1242…..from a bullish break out…only the Scum operate like that….they are bidding dollar as well tdy and of course the SM…it’s the same play book 24/7.

They have to break PM’s this time or their mates who are all short with them will be screwed….their problem is, too many see it for what it is….. madness…… and the classic safe harbour is PM’s, which is why I think they are haveing such a hard time breaking them.

As for your gender madness…what a legacy Obummer will have.

and to add real insult the TBTF Banks are flying up near 2 %, with ubber dog DB up over 2 %…..proving that stealing is the easiest way to riches on Fall st.

BREAKING: Muslim Pilot Of Flight 804 Converted The Plane Into A Portable Mosque And Said Farewell Before He Crashed The Plane And Slaughtered Everyone

Shoebat

More evidence is arising to show that the pilot of Flight 804 went suicide. He did some bizarre things. He converted the plane into a makeshift mosque, used the equipment to tell passengers the direction of Mecca. Had a last supper and said “farewell” as if ‘we who are about to die salute you’. He called his brother before take-off telling him to ‘pray for him’ as he was going for martyrdom. He had connections with one of the most radical preachers and terror supporters in Egypt.

We start off with testimony of Osama Abdel Basset, the captain in charge of the air hospitality in Egyptian Air says it all: “The Captain Mohammed Shakeer, the pilot of that fateful flight” had organized a “last supper” knowing he is “about to die”:
he called on his colleagues before the incident a few days to lunch at his house hinting that the end is near, the end of his life that is and that he is ready to meet his maker and gave his farewell. He was bidding them [his friends] farewell with words that came out of his mouth for the first time in his life“
