This is an interview that seemed noteworthy to me.

Posted by Equisetum @ 12:47 on May 26, 2016

It seemed noteworthy simply because it appeared through the mainstream media – in this case CNBC.   All who frequent goldtentoasis have heard endlessly and repeatedly through this site, and through Zerohedge and SGT Reports and King World News and JSMineset etc. that both fundamental and technical criteria point to a positive future for gold and silver.  Collectively we hear of those favourable criteria so often that they seem to fade into meaningless echoes.  And no matter how positive the PM  outlook from  people like Sinclair, Kirby, McEwen, von Greyerz, Maloney, Willie, etc. etc., none of their repeated predictions mean much while their views are exposed only (or mainly) through the internet forums such as the several named above.

A difference in the link below is that Boockvar  got to express his PM outlook on CNBC.   Things  said about PM-related investments on internet forums frequented by investors already interested in the PM sector do not mean much because investors involved in precious metals are so few relative to the entire investing population.  Boockvar’s  views are already well known to users of goldtentoasis through his presentations on King World News.  Because there are so few of us who follow the prominent internet PM-related websites, the views expressed there do not much matter.   But when he, and others like him with a similar message, get to voice their views on the mainstream media like CNBC then significant numbers are going to take note.  I think that is when we will begin to see upward momentum in precious metals as investment and insurance vehicles.

I do not watch CNBC, but I am glad Boockvar  was given the opportunity to express some PM-related views on that more widely-watched ublic medium.   Best wishes to all PM holders.    Equiz

Remember My Warning in
Gold and Mining Shares?

By Larry Edelson
Larry Edelson
Dear Silverngold,

It was just three weeks ago. That’s when almost every professional money manager wanted in on the gold rally. So too did every Mom and Pop investor. Even my children were asking if it was time to finally buy gold and silver.

Subscribers and members to my various investment publications? They wanted my head on a silver platter. They thought that they had already lost their chance — forever — to get in low as gold ultimately works its way to well over $5,000 an ounce over the next few years.

And in the mining sector, everyone pretty much felt the same. They wanted to line me up in front of a firing squad and pull the triggers themselves.

Read on to learn what I told them then, and what I’m seeing in the precious metals now …

Bill Gross … snippet

Posted by ipso facto @ 10:31 on May 26, 2016

Gross also had some comments on Japan, and the entire central bank endgame.

He said that the only way for Japan to eventually cut its debt burden is for the central bank to acquire it and forgo repayment, a scenario that may play out in similar ways in other countries.

“I think that’s where they’re headed. I’m not endorsing that. I think at some point, Japan will basically buy up all its debt and the central bank will forgive the treasury and try to move forward with that. I see no other way out for Japan.”

“Ultimately, they could own all the market,” he added during his Bloomberg interview. “At that point they could say to the fiscal side, ‘Olly olly oxen free. You don’t have to pay us back. Or we’ll extend your debt to 50 years with a zero percent coupon and at that point we’ll essentially eliminate the entire obligation.’”

Gross said such a move would have dramatic and damaging consequences for Japan’s currency, savings rate and private sector. Japan has unique demographic factors that exacerbate its economic dilemma, but other nations will face similar choices, he said.

He believes it is also the endgame.

“Japan’s a pretty good picture for the rest of the world, maybe five or 10 years ahead. I have a sense that that’s the route central banks will pursue. They’ll keep on buying debt, keep interest rates low and then ultimately the treasury doesn’t owe them anything.”

What should central banks do?

Central banks, he said, need to start raising rates to restore the right incentives for investors. Gross said the Federal Reserve needs a leader similar to Paul Volcker, who raised interest rates in the 1980s despite popular opposition.

“We need another Volcker,” Gross said.

Unfortunately that won’t happen.

Goodbye, Eco Oro (EOM.to)

And CB Gold (CBJ.v) and any other mining project located around the Páramo de Santurbán in Colombia, because today the Colombian Constitutional Court ruled that local and regional mayors and governors have the right to block mining projects in Colombia, no matter if they’ve been permitted at a national level.

Now it’s going to depend where your mining project is located and how miner-friendly the local politicos happen to be but there are some clear-cut examples where the regional heads are dead set against mining activity and those include William Villamizar Laguado, governor of Norte Santander, where Eco Oro (EOM.to) and its Angostura project is located.. Anything round there is now dead as a dodo

And I’d suspect AngloGold Ashanti will have to do some pretty serious….lobbying (err, I think that’s what they call it)…in Tolima soon.

goldielocks @ 4:18 It’s A Mystery To Me…

Posted by Farmboy @ 8:58 on May 26, 2016

Anytime I hear of a plane crashing with sky divers aboard I have to scratch my head and ponder the mystery of such a thing. I mean, if I was on a plane that was headed back towards Mother Earth in an unseemly fashion, and I happened to be wearing a parachute, then out the door I would be and willing to take my chances with the silk. Just saying….

You know Goldi, you are good for me, help me out you do. Any time I get to thinking I am caught up on my prayers, you go and post something like your 04:18 post. Scuba diving in the deep with sharks, then jumping out of some plane, or thinking about it anyways. Well, I’m glad you remembered those rules about off loading nitrogen before you went up amongst those clouds.

Guess I better send up a word or two to the Boss on your behalf. “Lord, watch over that gal, keep her Guardian Angel(s) on thier toes and ever vigilant and watchful over this wild child of yours. Amen ”  And Goldi, just so you know, a lot of folks find great excitement, work off stress, etc.  in things like knitting, or chess, or even riding on tractor. I think Redneckokie could give you some safer things to do with your spare time. NO, wait, I take that one back. Fact is, dont even read RNO’s posts so you dont get any of his crazy ideas in your head.  Oh Lord, what to do with you? ” Lord, you made her, you fix her. amen”

Stay safe, Farmboy 🙂

Finest camper I ever did see. Which got me to thinking ( which a friend of mine tells me, ” Farmboy, any time you are thinking about thinking, call me first!) … but if I was to get a bigger truck…???

Glad to see your getting Internet where you are. Looks like you could use a couple of canoes. Mt St Helens on and off news with activity. There was a plane crash on the islands the other day killed 5 sky divers. Didn’t say why Maybe the wind. I remember trying to go once but they only did it in the early morning because they said the wind gets bad later. It wasn’t enough hours that went by since scuba diving so couldn’t go.
