Madame Pele, the volcano goddess, has her ways! 🙂
Locals watch for her face in the clouds of steam and fumes from the vent, too. You would be surprised at the number of photos that appear to have a long haired woman’s profile emerging in the steam and glow from the fire pit. There is even an old hawaiian painting like that hanging in the Volcano House hotel on the edge of the crater.
As for me…. do you know how hard it is to draw a smiley face in hot lava with only a plastic latte’ straw??
