Asteroid miner Deep Space to launch first commercial mission by 2020

US-based asteroid mining firm Deep Space Industries (DSI) is planning to send a prospecting spacecraft before the end of the decade to search for resources in celestial bodies, which would become the first commercial mission beyond Earth’s orbit.

The company, based in Mountain View, California, said its Prospector-1 — a 50-kg satellite — was designed to visit a nearby asteroid and look for deposits of water ice that could, in the future, be mined and used as fuel by other spacecraft.

The spacecraft, to be propelled by water, will expels hot water vapour to move forward, according to DSI. That’s important because it means that future water-propelled mining vehicles could potentially “refuel” in space, using water gathered from asteroids.

It’s amazing what a few minutes brings in Silver and Gold

Posted by Mr.Copper @ 9:14 on August 12, 2016

Every single time, day week or month that gold goes gown, it’s a MISTAKE. Remember the first 12 year run, ’00 -’12?

A bull market will keep most people off and out. They will wait way too long to get in, until they are CERTAIN there is an uptrend. Then they get what they subconsciously wanted, to LOSE.

A bear market will keep them IN right to the end. Won’t let them off. They will wait for a turn around that never happens, and when they finally give up, and sell out, it is usually right at rock bottom, start of a new bull mkt.

FYI, re CNBC ticker lines at bottom of screen. I’ve never seen so many miner tickers on pre market in my life, so they must be getting more popular. Or acceptable.

Have the Scum all gone to the Hamptons , leaving no-one in charge and the Algo’s turned off ???????

Volcano Videos

As lava from Kilauea flows to the sea, it forms a ‘shelf’ that eventually breaks off and slides underwater down the steep slopes.  The whole southeast coastline of the Big Island has a giant crack and cliff where the land area below Kilauea is sinking into the sea.  That whole wedge could break sending hundreds of square miles of land into the ocean.  The resultant Tsunami would reach Honolulu some 200 miles distant in a mere 20 minutes… with a 100 foot wall of water.

And yes, there is an undersea ‘seamount’ eruptive cone named Loihi that is slowly building.  Estimates are in 10,000 years it will finally break the surface and become a new island just a few miles south offshore… depending on what happens with the wedge break above.

When Kilauea first became active again in 1983, the TV stations contracted with independent Kona videographer Mick Kalber to get us video of the volcano action.  Mick has made a career of shooting volcano video and documenting the volcano.  You can see his works here:

That was interesting sad and amazing all at the same time. It’s like mother earth giving life while taking anything in its way at the same time. You wrote it well in that I could picture what you wrote. You have some writing skills if you want to lol. I had to pause at melting under things. That is something. Scientist said once I heard that one day the Island will break away then a new Island will form.

goldielocks @ 0:10 Lava Flows

Posted by Maya @ 1:17 on August 12, 2016

“GeoEngineering” lava flows has been tried in the past with virtually no success.   They’ve tried bombing the flow to stop or divert it, with no success.  While it generally flows downslope following what would be water-runoff low areas, it has a lot of unpredictability.  Walls and tall berms do not work, either.  The lava will ‘pile up’ and climb right over the wall.   Nothing contains ‘molten earth’ when it can melt through or tunnel-melt under areas.  A lot depends on the relative temperature and viscosity, and how much mass is pushing it down from upslope areas that are more hot and liquid.

The State has opined that it would be wrong to divert a flow and cause property damage to a neighboring area, even if it could be done.   It’s generally accepted now that diversions cannot be accomplished, and one must simply let Pele take her course.

In the last flow that threatened Pahoa village, they tried encasing critical power poles in concrete culvert tubes filled with cinders, and piled yards of more cinders around the poles up to half their height to protect them.  The lava piled up against the mound, then melted UNDER the pole and burned the pole from the underground root all the way up.

What a boxing match going on with Trump vs Hillary

Posted by goldielocks @ 0:35 on August 12, 2016

Even the some of the Repubs are ganging up against Trump. They fear for their own reelection because of Trump. They do not get the people are angry about the old system and same politicians.

What their really angry at is the bankers and money lender but don’t know it. Big money will always fund who they want in office while nothing changes for the middle class or poor. These same people who give them what they want and tax breaks or no taxs in fact Theyll owe them money from all the borrowing they do to fund their programs. See how that’s working for Chicago and Detroit. But look who funded their mayors and law makers.

Now Hillary tells Detroit she’s gonna fix all that while taxing the rich. Yeah right. Where is she gonna get the money? They been borrowing so much their credit cards must be getting maxed out.

This is by R Wolff. It starts out slow then it picks up. It combines the US, France, Brit Exit similarity but in the end their gonna be even more angry because nothing’s gonna change. What’s happening in France will be about the same here if Hillary gets Im and you’ll see why when he gets to that part. Hope this is the one I have a few YouTubes saved.

Cool That’s what Id look for too because I know little about the catchments anyways other than they need a UV filter and that’s about it. Sounds like too much work. I looked at condos not just in Hi for even less work but worring about increasing maintance costs especially in Hawaii because you don’t even own them there you lease them even if you buy them. Your better off owning your own house. Someday as it gets farther away from the fear of last eruption will probably go up maybe. I’m not a construction guru but I don’t know why they don’t map out the general lava flow directions and build a trench and Rock wall around level one to direct the lava toward the sea in a certain direction like a water irrigation system lol something similar like that. Then the artists there can decorate it and build a walkway for people to watch and tourist. Of course it would need a fence in that area or some idiot will let their kid fall in if they don’t.
