I think it’s a new technological weapon of mass destruction, possibly even something that Tesla accidently helped discover. They definitely didn’t make the Nuke and electro magnetic pulse bombs and then decided, yep that’s it no more sophisticated weapons will be needed from here on out. So I can’t explain it in reasonable terms
