I figured the chastisement for not voting would come…
Despite being a ‘Democratic Machine’ state going way back to the minority immigrants at statehood in the late 1950s, Hawaii has one of the lowest voter turnouts in the country. Part of it is the perception that ‘it does no good’ because the mainland has already determined the outcome while the polls are still open here. We are six hours behind the East Coast USA and in the past, some eastern states were already releasing tabulations while the Hawaii polls were still open. It so incensed the polits here that they got a law passed prohibiting the mainland from releasing ANY polling data until ALL polls in the country (read: Hawaii) have closed.
But that doesn’t stop the news networks from projecting winners early. People here look at the news and say ‘why vote’? The outcome has already been determined. Hawaii population is just over a million. In a nation of 325 million, we are less than one-third of one percent. Even if the election was NOT fraud-ridden, it would still do no good.
I will enjoy my bunker, thank you, assuming I get there before the world as we know it goes nuclear toast.
