I’ve had better years, but its been awhile. And certainly been through worse Thanksgiving holidays. But this year I am grateful for many things. I have what I need, and I want the life I have, so what is there not to be thankful for this year ? Oh, sure, the PM’s could be doing better. I could stand to lose a few pounds, and get some more exercise in. And the list of things I want to do around the place, well, all in good time.
The Lord has been real good to me. I have my health and reasonably get around. I once again have a few dollars to invest. But truly, the most important of my Blessings are to be counted, even named, by the friends I have to share this journey with. I must be ‘maturing’, cause there were many years where I would not thought such a thought. And let me tell you Oasis, you all have been a friend to me. Thank you. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and wisdom on these pages. They have made my life better, have helped me hang in when things did not look so promising. Yeah, even more than the ounce, my true wealth lies in friends like you. Thanks.
Now me and God have had this on again, off again, thing going on for years. But I have to tell you, I am leaning more in His direction these days. And I cant help but wonder if I have personally just witnessed something, perhaps a miracle nearly as big as when Moses parted that little pond called the Red Sea.
Lets take a man, a successful man in his own right. Who has built a respected business, even an empire of sorts and one morning decides he wants to run for President of the United States. What are his qualifications? Well, he has never run for or been elected to anything, not even dog catcher, in his entire life. He has no Super Pacs or large donors. He will mostly use his own fortune, gamble his own money, on running for office. Hows that for being an idiot?
He runs against more than a dozen others, much more experienced and connected in the ways of Washington. And he beats them all. He wins. He wins in a party that half of them don’t like him, some even say they wont support him, in spite of signing pledges they would. The Democrats hate him, as does the Media. Besides the media being a lapdog for the Democratic party, they hate him because he is an outsider. Academia hates him, because he does not subscribe to their socialist leanings. A lot of folks in Hollywood say they will leave the country if he is elected. Face it, our man was the Lone Ranger. And a lot of folks say they want justice, they want truth, but really, what they want most is for their own desires, to be catered to. They want their system of justice to be different from ours, the common folk. They want to live by different rules because they are above us, and deserve special treatment. I don’t think they really want justice, and fairness for all. Their words speak it, but their walk does not show it.
They make a lot of moral or judgement calls, but have neither. Its ok for their candidate to lie, cheat, and delete 30,000 emails. Its ok if she lies to Congress about it, or even the FBI. She gets a ‘pass’ because…well because they decide she deserves it, is entitled to it. How quaint and convenient for them. We no longer need rule, or laws, they will decide what is fair, or just, or right. Well here is another thing to be Thankful for today, our government is set up, based upon a Constitution and laws to protect us from these self appointed righteous ones.
Lets not forget the sacred pollsters. By varied means, known only to them, the sacred always have secrets not meant to be known to the common folk, they mostly all predicted that our man could not win. They kept touting such nonsense in the face of evidence. Such as , tens of thousands waiting in line for hours to hear our man speak while the Dunkin Donuts had more cars in the parking lot than the folks wanting to hear Hillary or whats his face speak. Don’t know what numbers the pollsters were looking at, but I guess it wasn’t the number of folks turning out to hear a message. Not only did the pollsters have it wrong, they had it wrong badly. And they were the ‘professionals’. Which reminds me of a joke, ” The ark was built by amateurs, while the Titanic was built by professionals.”
Lets sum this Trump Victory up. He never ran for office, he had to finance most of his campaign with his own money, he was not part of the ‘establishment’ that had ruled for decades, he not only ran against the Democratics, but about half of his own party, he spent less than 20% of his opponent on advertising and commericals, many of the world leaders spoke up against him, but when the votes were counted, he Won.
Now what are the odds of that actually happening. I figure about the same odds as Moses parting the sea. I cannot help but think, we just seen a miracle. And just maybe, we are on our way to our New American Freedom, or at least a return to what our Country once was and once represented. And for that, I am thankful this Thanksgiving Season.
Best to all, from the Farmboy who sometimes rubs his eyes in disbelief. 🙂
