Everyone Is Nervous” – Chinese Bond Bloodbath Reawakens As Hong Kong Stocks Turn Red For 2016

After a brief respite, the bloodbath in Chinese bonds is back, with futures plunging back to lows overnight amid liquidity fears (short-term lending rates are inverted) and growing anxiety over China’s almost unprecedented debtload.

As The Wall Street Journal reports, a gradual tightening of short-term credit by China’s central bank – combined with rumors of liquidity squeezes at brokers – prompted a mini-rout in the country’s $8 trillion-plus bond market last week, forcing authorities to reverse course and inject some $86 billion in short- and medium-term funds.

China’s total debt surged to around $27 trillion this year, or 260% of gross domestic product, compared with 154% in 2008 at the start of a stimulus program to offset the financial crisis. It is continuing to grow at more than twice the pace of the economy.

Economists say growing amounts of money are flowing into less-productive channels, such as keeping struggling companies on life support, or feeding speculative investments in everything from property to bonds and steel.

Taliban says ok for China to develop huge Afghan copper mine

A promise by the Taliban to safeguard the world’s second largest untapped copper deposit is being downplayed by the sitting government of Afghanistan.

In a statement on November 29, the shadowy group known for harbouring Osama bin Laden following the 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, said that the Mes Aynak copper deposit is among those that it would allow for development.

“The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan directs all its Mujahideen to help in the security of all national projects that are in the higher interest of Islam and the country,” reads the statement quoted by CNBC.

positive outlook for the future of silver as a vehicle for protecting one’s wealth, just as he has always been positive about gold for the same purpose.

In the past few days I had the opportunity to check out the”Revised and substantially enlarged edition” of Willem Middelkoop’s ” The Big Reset. War on Gold and the Financial Endgame”.  In 2014 I had read his first edition and have not now noted any major changes to his main 2014 conclusions and predictions.  It seemed important to check that out because the prologue to his 2015 edition states that “This revised edition contains an extra 30,000 words analyzing the latest developments, since the first print early 2014”

One significant addition that did catch my attention indicates that Middelkoop displays the same optimism for silver as a store of wealth as Von Greyerz has recently stated . The following sentence from page 265 of Middelkoop’s  2015 edition  stood out for me:  “I would like to add that physical silver is an even better investment.  At the moment of writing (summer of 2015) gold is over 75 times more expensive than silver.  Historically, the norm has been ten to 15 times.  Given the growing shortages in the silver market I expect an enormous re-rating of the ‘poor man’s gold”

If Von Greyerz and Middelkoop, and Eric Sprott too, have positive views about the future of silver, relative to gold, I am content to keep our present allocations, which are more heavily weighted to silver than to gold.

Breaking: Crew Of Air Force One Refuses To Fly Obama 6000 Miles ‘Just To Play Golf’

After eight years of flying to Chicago for White Castle burgers, bringing Michelle Obama to LA for the afternoon for a hair appointment and taking the Obama girls to a park they like in San Fransisco to walk the dog on the government dime, the crew of the famed Air Force One has said enough is enough.
Obama was set to leave Hawaii tomorrow, just for the day, to meet with a pal 6000 miles away for a round of golf. The Captain of the President’s plane told him that unless it was official business from the office of the President, he wasn’t obligated to fly him anywhere.

Obama will fly out on the Air Force Osprey they use to transport the family dog, BO, who was forbidden from traveling on the President’s big plane after he peed on the leg of the French foreign minister during one of Michelle Obama’s lavish vacations. The Osprey, which costs less to fly than a 747, is still going to cost the American taxpayer $2 million for the day.

It’s a fairly well-known fact that after about 150 words and a picture that may or may not be related, most conservative readers will stop reading and go comment that the Muslim should be executed for playing golf. Therefore, less than 20% of those who clicked this article will have made it this far.

Took these in front of a friends house this morning at only around 150′ above sea level. I had to cover some strawberries last couple of nights. They survived somehow. People were sliding down hills in some places because they usually don’t need snow tires. This isn’t snow its ice.
