This is the morning of Alborada, Dec. 16 : You are awakened at 6 am by a 4 piece band in the street inviting folks to join a procession marching around the little street within the compound . After making the circle a couple of times , a small breakfast of empanadas and hot chocolate is served . That evening and each evening until Christmas a half hour layman religious service is put on in the clubhouse , followed by more goodies , such as bunelos ( think donut holes ) and nattilla ( brown sugar , milk , cinnamon and cloves , cooked and stirred for hours until about the consistency of thick grits ) .
I tried to post a short video clip , but it messed up the post . If you go to Media in the side bar and locate Alborada in the library , you can view it , I think .
Merry Christmas to all !
