Farmboy
“yard boy”
Methinks you’d find the fellow mentioned laying on his back in the sun smoking wacky tabakee when there’s work to be done!
Farmboy @ 6:50
Let’s be clear here…. I’m retired, not on ‘vacation’. All those little projects “I’ll do someday when I’m retired” have come due! Then there is the ‘homeowner’ issues and jungle yard maintenance… I’m working more than I have in recent years. Only difference is I’m working for myself now, for lots less pay! At least I no longer need to ‘save for retirement’.
I actually have an entire railroad in tiny Z-gauge on a coffee table that I have roughed out, to be finished “someday when I retire”.
I have also discovered Senior Discount day at the local rural Ace Hardware store. Amazing ‘general store’ with absolutely everything you might need. And with a Chinese restaurant across the parking lot… life is good.
Poor Harry Dent–he had one good call [babyboomers retiring/stock mkt peak in 2008] and since then
has been a croaking Cassandra and kept his clients outa the 10,000 pt DOW rise from the 2008 lows–and now he says avoid gold. The poor bastard just wants to peddle subscriptions.
THANKS, HARRY…FOR NOTHING!
Thursday, January 19, 2017 – Baltimore, MD
Dear Reader,
Harry Dent here.
I’ve been watching recently as the colossal financial bubble we’re living in stretches closer and closer to its breaking point.
When this thing pops… soon, and very soon… it’s not only going to take down the entire stock market – it’ll absolutely crush many of your other assets, too.
Including GOLD.
I hear from readers every day that they’ve moved their money into gold to prepare for the coming crash. That’s when I’m forced to give them the harsh truth – gold will NOT protect your money.
In fact, owning gold during this crisis will only LOSE you MORE money!
My opinion is the polar opposite of what a lot of “experts” will tell you – but I’ve got the facts and the research to back it up.
You won’t believe what I see gold prices dropping to… until you see the proof!
You can read all about it… as well as what you should be doing with your hard-earned money instead – right here.
But please hurry.
Harry Dent
Ipso, LOL !
I don’t think either of those suggested studies would let me enroll. Something about that Rebel flag tattoo I guess??
Good to hear you spoke with our Reef Dweller friend, and even better to see he still has a sense a humor. A good thing.
Hopefully he will feel up to some keyboard time soon. Kinda miss having him around.
And next time you talk with him, let him know I found a replacement for Buygold. Obama’s going to be out looking for a job, and I think he would make a good yard boy.
Farmboy
Izzat your pup? Cute!
You know its funny … Wanka was wondering how YOU might be taking Hillary’s loss … and thought you had said something about going back to school and majoring in The Wickedness of White People or maybe Islamic Studies?
Ipso, I Was Going To Send Wanka a Get Over It Present,
I hear he is having a really hard time getting over Hillary’s loss. So I bought him a Snowflake Teddy Bear. Thought it might make him feel better. But, ole Tatterhead drew a liking to it and buried it somewhere in the backyard. Maybe I will try getting him a card or something? Or a ‘I’m With Her” T shirt?
Well, its the thought that counts right?
Talked a bit with Wanka
He’s still not feeling well but seems in good spirits and sends his best to everyone at the Oasis.
Uncertainty in U.S. Economic Influences Gold
Part:
Uncertainty in the global financial market continues to boost gold price in the first month of 2017 as investors considered the precious metal as safe-haven asset. Societe Generale Head of Metals Research Robin Bhar said in a statement, “Trump’s stance on trade and protectionism has been well aired and it will always be a key factor. But until we get more clarity on what exactly it means, this should help to underpin gold…
This year there are lots of uncertain political events, including elections, so if you looking for a bit of a refuge from stormy seas gold will be one of those safe assets that you would park some money in.”

ipso facto @ 9:26 Well…..There Is That…LOL

Farmboy @ 6:53
LOL I think there may have been some bad judgment involved!
Farmboy, I hear you brother!
Only I slightly disagree with Garths conclusions about unanswered prayers. I believe ALL prayers are answered…..Just sometimes they are not the answers we were looking for at the time. But looking back in hindsight we can see that we did receive answers to ALL our prayer…..just sometimes the answer was, in GODS wisdom, “NO”, and that has kept us on our right path.
Good morning Oasis

Listen, I’ve been thinking, now that you are on Permanent Holiday Status, it might be good to have a hobby. A little sandpaper, few cans of spray paint, whatcha think? Wonder if the local hardware store accepts bitcoin?
Gold Train
The eastbound ‘Canadian’ threads it’s way thru Kicking Horse Pass.

Equisetum @ 17:45 Thank You!
That was the best (nay… ‘only’!) documentation I’ve seen of the spiral tunnels. Clicking on the picture brought me to even more documentation of the tunnels, including terrain maps. Interesting that the ‘old line’ needed a 4.4% grade which is killer to a heavy train, and sometimes to the crew also. The redesigned switch-backs with spiral tunnels at each end took the grade down to a manageable 2.2%. As an aside… US railroads have abandoned routes of 3% grades such as Tennessee Pass in Colorado and Raton Pass in New Mexico. Raton is now only used once a day by the Amtrak Southwest Chief. It’s just not economical to send freight over those steep hills.
The CPR did an amazing job of engineering the terrain back in 1909 for Kicking Horse Pass.
dirtbags are working Silver hard tonight
guess we’ll see what morning brings
