Loading ...We have a building lot in Colombia (photo below) , where you can grow your own coffee ( and citrus , avocados, papaya , pineapples , etc. ) . The topsoil is almost two feet deep on our hillside and looks like course ground coffee . Incredibly rich ! Our small orange tree produces about 2 dozen oranges a week-I count ten just on the branch in the photo below , and have seen that many in a single cluster . The tree was planted from a shin high sapling less than three years ago .
It is ten minutes from an international airport . The weather does not change much year round – 80s in the daytime , 60s at night . Bright sunshine with an afternoon shower frequently (untaxed) . Nobody bothers with heating or A/C – just open the windows . The gardener is paid about $1.50 an hour , and is a willing worker .
But , it ain’t America … which I consider home sweet home .
