Yeah a lot a surfers and surfboards there. Lol I knew the father of one who’s son well known surfer had popular surfboards made. I wasn’t surfing at that time though so never tried one of them. They were at that time changing from the long boards to the short boards. A lot of us were used to the long boards. You’d get conversations like how to do get past the break with them lol I said get back farther flip it or swim under lol They reminded me of skateboarders. Many same muscle groups. You can do more manuevering though plus can put them inside cars instead of on top or hanging off the end of a station wagon. Why I left mine behind. By then there were more surfers out there but not too many women yet. The waves aren’t real big in that area most go out to have fun and you have to go early when cold because they’d go away about by about noon. Also fog in morning. For bigger waves you had to go to San Diego or north.
