Loading ...Tea Partiers are really Constitutionalists . In the era of J.P. Morgan , John D. Rockefeller et al – very powerful individuals , it was felt that the House and Senate ( formerly appointed ) elected representatives were too slow , unwieldy and cumbersome to deal with that level of money and power , so the Presidency was given much greater power … king-like . A real departure from the intended balance between Legislative , Judicial ( the Supreme Court at the time was quartered in the basement of the Capitol , not in their own ‘palace’ ) and Executive branches intended by the framers . Then the Income tax and Federal Reserve were implemented and Federal powers expanded greatly via agencies answerable to the Presidency .
