The scariest part is that even if you DO PAY the ransom in bitcoin, only sometimes do they actually make good on their decryption claims of your machines hard drives. Usually most people pay and are out in the cold. Don’t ever click on an unknown link from ANYONE. Keep your machine up to date with the latest patches and updates. Use anti-spyware and run it often. Back up to a remote site such as dropbox. Make a system recovery disk too
