Comeys testimony is more likely to get Comey in the Hot Seat…Its fraught with ICE obstacles just like Washingtons crossing the Potomic …The potomic will take its toll on COMEY !
Among the top ranks, if not the best in DC at stalling, dragging out compliance and obstruction is the disgraced former FBI Director, James Comey. In some ways he’s even more adept at hiding behind his position, even after it’s been taken away, than Jihadi Jeh Johnson was at DHS under Hussein Obama. What’s an honest man, doing his best to serve the nation he swore an oath to, so determined to keep hidden? That’s a loaded question that presumes Comey to be honest. Only RINO John McCain and political hack Democrats would make such an obviously weak proclamation.
Even as the NSA was slow walking but still providing documents to Congress, Comey offered up only excuses and little more. Comey was supposed to appear before Congressional committees beginning this week. They were eager to ask him about the memo that was reported by the New York Times, alleging President Trump had pressured him to back off from investigating Gen Michael Flynn. There are many potential improprieties, including felonies in the actions of Comey which, under oath, could complicate what was supposed to be a simple political hit job on the President. Now that he’s stepped in it with both feet, Comey needs to rethink matters. He’s got to talk to the boss first, Special Prosecutor Mueller.
We might wonder if that wouldn’t be a potential conflict of interest, to offer advice on the content of their testimony to a potential witness and defendant in advance of the investigation even starting. It certainly does seem inappropriate, and would be if it weren’t Democrats engaging in the actions; the media would be frothing.
Comey Has To Get His Story Straight With Mueller First – Can’t Let The Truth Mess Things Up
House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) had invited Comey to testify at a hearing on Wednesday but the Congressman announced on Monday that Comey wants to talk to Mueller first. He wouldn’t want to say the wrong thing by simply telling the truth in front of the whole country. Then again, if he wanted to tell the truth, he’d be testifying in private, where he can’t hide behind the confidentiality of the information.
Chaffetz will be retiring at the end of June, a factor which could easily be used as another excuse for postponing testimony further, something along the lines of needing to give the new chairman the opportunity to conduct the hearing in the manner he deemed most appropriate. There’s the August recess coming up too – just so much to do and so little time to get nothing done.
Late Friday, the customary time for releasing information that is designed to get minimal coverage, the Senate Intelligence Committee announced that Comey had agreed to testify sometime after Memorial day. That is, of course, unless he’s given an easy out from all of this by his friend Robert Mueller.
Mueller might not want to “taint the witness pool” by having the Comey testimony on his troubling memos be in public. They’ve already served their purpose, having been used to damage the President, with no similar such considerations being offered for his or the nation’s best interest. But now that Comey’s gotten twisted up in his lies with no good excuse for various actions and failures to act which could be potential obstruction of justice felonies on his part, he’s lost his desire to showboat and his thirst for vengeance has been tempered.
The “leaks” have served their purpose. He can sit back and let others continue the cover up and attack. We’ll see if Mueller is willing to help him find a good hiding spot.
