Last month, at JPMorgan’s annual shareholder meeting, Dimon had urged the business community and the administration to work together to find meaningful solutions to critical issues confronting the U.S.
In response to a question on Trump’s tighter immigration policy, Dimon had said, “He is the president of the United States. I believe he is the pilot flying our plane. I would try to help any president of the United States because I am a patriot.”
Comment: I am no fan of Dimon, but he brings, at least in words, a more measured response to Trump’s ditching the Paris Climate Deal. Compared to Elon Musk, who is rich, and brilliant, and a smart guy no doubt, his ” I’m leaving the President’s Council’ because I do not agree with Trumps decision. Money, fame and fortune does not guarantee wisdom nor sensibility. Elon’s rash decision probably will not hurt Trump, but Elon just cut himself off from an ‘insider position’, which perhaps could have paid great dividends in the future. His self imposed exile from the halls of power and influence was not a very smart move.
Whether motivated by ego, politics, or greed, he just shot himself in the foot by distancing himself from Trump and Associates. Dimon, has obviously lived long enough, experienced enough of how real life works, gained more insight, than the young Musk. Musk is free to join the list of, ” I did not get what I wanted from President Trump, so I am joining the Anti Trump Gang. Well, at least Elon wont be lonely. He has plenty of Hollywood starlites and disgruntled Democrats to keep him company at the Whiners Convention. Dumb move Mr. Musk. I bet in another few years you are going to wish you had a ‘redo’ on that decision.

I think I said near 100 % discharge or should have…here is yet more advice that seems to support yr graph, on partial discharge, though it gets nowhere near 35 K cycles, only 4 K

Have read others that say partial is fine, even good…but none talk of 35 K and that is the crucial area, because 4 K would suggest a 10 to 15 year life, asumeing near daily charges. Such a short life cycle on a cars ‘engine’ would be a 2 nd hand killer, especially as that is the max, min could be way less, from an abused battery….5 years or less.
Also u should not store/not use the battery if 100 % charged, @ 40/50 % is best and at cool temp. So optimum battery maintenance is v complex.
In short I was wrong about the discharge/charge cycle …it was for Ni/Cad batteries, Lith Ion are v different, but I would say way too complicated for most to maximise/fit into life styles, they will be abused when new, thus shortening life cycles heavily.
That factory and it ‘s tech has to support crazy values. Tesla is worth more than Ford, yet sold 76 K cars last year, early sales had guaranteed buy back values, Ford sold 6.7 million cars, no buy back guarantee….Tesla’s model X costs £ 100 K in the UK, yet has a range of at best sub 200 miles driven carefully, forget the posted 300 plus miles and way less hard driven in cold conditions….what will it’s 2nd hand value be in 3 yrs, with no guaranteed buy back ….
Musk is smart, v smart, he has played the naive fools of the snowflake generation and todays politicians like a violin…..but maths don’t change and has there been a single ‘Green’ idea that translated into real profits anywhere, rather than a total financial disaster, that was stuck to tax payers.
