I think TSLA is hyped up too. Did you see he intends on making the model 3 on the same slot car track as the Models S and X, but at 10X the production speed? His workers on the factory floor are complaining about repetitive movement injuries. He said he’ll work on the floor at these disputed stations. I think he’ll observe, time the process and decide how to replace those positions with robots ASAP.
Caterpillar failed at this. The knew the union workers could be more productive, but they didn’t look to robotics fast enough. The just moved the world headquarters from its homebase of Peoria, IL to a Chicago suburb. I think they’ll find smarter people in Chicago that help them move into the new century of robotics and they’ll greatly downsize the production facility total building footprints. But I have no way of backing my hypothesis.
