For starters the money is fake, and if that opinion grows, people with lots of fake money may have a hard time spending or getting rid of it. A lot of prices are fake because many prices (or values) are distorted.
Take for example diesel fuel price versus regular price. Diesel was always cheaper because it was less refined, more crude. At the filling stations it looks like TPTB manually made diesel MORE expensive than regular. A clear distortion of value.
Odds are they want to inhibit diesel use. So they make it more expensive, and the with the extra profit, they subsidize the regular car owners. They also probably assume Diesels are business owners, or wealthy people. Its like a tax.
Same thing with big Pick Up trucks. They always cost slightly more than a smaller car. So TPTB simply make a Silverado $75,000, and a Honda for $19,000. Reward the gas miser, that drives 40,000 miles a year polluting the air, and tax the shit out of the guy who doesn’t drive his Tahoe or Silverado much (no pollution)
