Well stay safe. Looks like it’s to be over soon and they want to get power back soon as safe. That’s got to be a extra dangerous job with all that water.
Ororeef Video: I don’t think they notice these swells. I saw one same place live where some guy sat down with his back to the ocean and behind him was a wave coming in and got him going over his head. He decided that was a bad idea and left.
You know the old Hawaiian saying, Never turn your back to the Ocean.

See the green , blue and even clear sky below the eye of Irma on this image ?
Drier circulation coming off the gulf side .
Right now in this area the wind is picking up , the rain is heavier , and we are under a tornado warning . But even though the worst is still ahead , behind it comes a wonderful day tomorrow .

Apparently a lot of cool , very dry air is sweeping down from the North , and is melding with the flow coming off the gulf at the bottom of the storm , so not only are the winds diminishing , but what is coming across the bottom of the circulation is turning clearer and drier . I am hoping this projection is accurate .

Glad to hear that our folks in Florida have not been displaced or injured. Although I do hope we hear from Wanka.
One more time it’s fear of destruction being over hyped by the media and the gov’t.
Fear, fear, fear 24/7 – Isis, N. Korea, Syria, Nuke war, you name it, all fear, all the time – just never ends.
Gold down tonight, no surprise considering months of COT commercials stacking shorts.
I do want to see the USD confirm the down move and I don’t see that just yet.
We live in the matrix, no question about it.
BTW – saw you in the comments section on ZH. Sometimes ya just have to call a spade a spade. Can’t spend your whole life always defending the indefensible. Time and time again though I see guys like you always defend actions, no matter how wrong – way worse than having blind faith old buddy. Way worse.

so it seems, is the ‘lectric getting knocked out–could be weeks to a month to restore…
Anyway, given the “good news”–and no news out of N korea–stock futures are up strongly and gold and silver are getting hit…stocks will rally on any old pretext….as Marty Zweig said, “don’t fight the trend and don’t fight the FED”.

the slowing of the winds is good, but often it brings flooding. there’s still a lot of water in that vast cloud cover, and slowing the winds down just means each bit of cloud cover sticks around a little longer, and can drop more water. there’s always plenty of rain with a hurricane, but it seems the slow ones have a tendency to turn into wet messes. update from nhc in a few minutes…

but already downgraded to Category 1 .
Still tracking tornados further inland ( more to the East side of the Peninsula ).
If the slowing continues , we may not even lose power in Volusia County ( fewer downed trees = fewer downed wires )-but that is just the opinion of a rank amateur (i.e.Yours truly).

has just been issued for my area. Boggles the mind considering how far into the mountains I am.

Will likely be Cat. 1 when it gets up to Tampa . Then back out into the gulf to get stronger again .
Here , between Daytona and Orlando , it has been raining all day , but only a few gusts of real wind . Sustained wind velocity in the teens – but that will change in the hours ahead .
We are bombarded by calls and emails from family and friends so I cannot get to the Oasis most of the day . Am anxious for power to be restored in the Keys so we get word of Wanka .

I’m not surprised. There are unmarked cars out there. The crime is a lot higher for criminals who loot during a evacuation and their faces are on camera.

Looks like buildings are holding up with some trees down. Looks like they ducked the brunt of it. Sea walls in Florida and Keys and building codes helped. Still storm surge and wind dangers. Flooding everywhere. Now heading up to Florida,Alex and Tree Frog. Gulf coast gonna get the brunt of surges.

that black dot at the florida/georgia line is right about here. gale force winds are expected tonight, building to tropical storm, and then hurricane force winds arriving about ten tomorrow morning. peak wind speed of about 95 mph is expected about 13:00 tomorrow.
…unless they change the forecast again…
climate is what you expect. weather is what you get.
edit. the 11:00 sunday nhc update shows a shift to the east in the projected path. treefrog manor is no longer in the crosshairs. max expected wind speed has dropped from 95 t0 70-75

Watching on news when I can. Went to YouTube saw that Key west ordered all police and emergency to leave and some are in shock. They never leave but a brush by not the same as a direct hit when your only few feet about each sea level and surges could be 10-15 feet and waves twice that.
The hurricane going slow means longer time to do more damage. It’s now a Cat 4
I hope Wanka left. If you want burial at sea do it after you die not the other way around. lol but not funny.
Those trees are a worry. Don’t know where you are there. Maybe best not to be in any part of house where the tree or trees can fall on your house. You don’t want to wake up with a tree falling on you.
More than 300K out of power now.
