De-Dollarization Spikes – Venezuela Stops Accepting Dollars For Oil Payments

Did the doomsday clock on the petrodollar (and implicitly US hegemony) just tick one more minute closer to midnight? Apparently confirming what President Maduro had warned, following the recent US sanctions, The Wall Street Journal reports that Venezuela has officially stopped accepting US Dollars as payment for its crude oil exports.

No thanks on cashless weed

Posted by eeos @ 19:44 on September 13, 2017

I don’t need people snooping anymore than they already do. Cross cancel the bad guys who poison weed with all sorts of harsh chemicals, insecticides and fungicides. This opens the door to personal growers who do what they love and keep it organic. Never trust a dispensary, they only grow to make huge profits

Ye of little faith.  Not only is sentiment irrelevent for stock to continue to rally, so are fundamentals, economic indicators, and actual investors themselves.  As long as we have the Instituitions bidding up stocks amongst themselves via the Central Banks, there is no limit to how high stocks will go.  Which is good.  Since stock prices HAVE to go up forever and ever for our entire financial system to work.

UBS Fears False Dawn In Stocks: “We Don’t Have The Sentiment For A New Breakout”

While asset-gatheres and commission-takers are celebrating the record highs in stocks – after the world did not end last weekend – UBS Technical Analyst team is a little less sanguine, fearing that this move to new record highs in the S&P could well be another false breakout due to a lack of sentiment signals in derivatives-land, and breadth breaking down.
On the one hand, the SPX is making marginal new all-time highs but on the other hand, we have the very steep 2016 bull trend underpinning the market coming under pressure to further deliver – if not break this trend.

Looks like you got busy and prepared and was worth it. Looks like they need to get busy with the gas situation. As far as generators I’m guessing those solar ones would come in handy since it’s so sunny there.I heard their quieter and maybe don’t know not subject to carbon dioxide poisoning or over heating so can maybe be brought inside if people have to leave or worried about theft. If anything to power a small air conditioner, refrigerator and computer or TV.
Looks like they caught a bunch of the looters in Little Haiti. Didn’t know they had a town called Little Haiti lol Talking about ingrates. Florida takes them in after a disaster gives them free housing and what do they do when you have a disaster? Loot
Was talking to a friend in Texas who was just getting water restored and not even in the hurricane zone and still has to boil it. One of her friends saw the rain during the hurricane go up about 2 inches was gonna take a nap but decided to evacuate with her 6 or so animals. Good thing she did because the water filled her house abouve her head and her neighbors had to be rescued. I told her I didn’t hear about any looting there because it was Texas and they probably were afraid they’d get shot. She said after Katrina that when people came from LA crime went up because in LA they don’t get much time for crime. They’d be right back out. They found in Texas they were gonna stay awhile and some wanted to go back.

Cashless

Posted by Maya @ 15:25 on September 13, 2017

Hawaii now has Medical Marijuana dispensaries.  Because the banking system will not service these businesses for fear of Federal retribution, the business deals only in cash.  Of course this is a potential problem for thefts.  So now the state is strongly encouraging the dispensaries to adopt a smartphone app for cashless purchases.  The payment app is a Colorado-based Credit Union that also handles a lot of Colorado payments and has good experience with this.  I guess the Credit Union gets around some of the federal banking rules and regulations enforcement since it is a state-based financial institution.

Looks like an area that Bitcoin could make some inroads.

And it looks like the over-reaching feds are slowly being ‘deClawed’ in the financial enforcement sector.

I’ve always heard him say that “when gold comes down a little bit, then I’ll buy some more”

Odd that he mentions GDX? So, whatever he perceives is coming won’t be cataclysmic and the stock markets will remain standing?

Sounds like he’s anticipating the Yuan/gold/oil currency.

Just a couple more months… 🙂

Clinton State Department silenced Contractors on Benghazi security lapses

Posted by Mr.Copper @ 13:26 on September 13, 2017

part:

EXCLUSIVE: Security at the State Department’s Benghazi compound was so dire that another contractor was brought in to clean up the mess just two weeks before the 2012 terror attack – and was later pressured to keep quiet by a government bureaucrat under then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, according to two men from the American security company.

Brad Owens and Jerry Torres, of Torres Advanced Enterprise Solutions, say they faced pressure to stay silent and get on the same page with the State Department with regard to the security lapses that led to the deaths of four Americans.

re which ultimately means inflation will come to America.”

Posted by Mr.Copper @ 10:57 on September 13, 2017

Here Here on that one. The US employees need some inflation for anexcuse. I remember the 1970s, constantly climbing prices. Everybody got good raises. I got raises every few months. The so-called inflation was a perfect excuse for more money. Even the employers were making money.

HOWEVER, that was before globalization. We made EVERYTHING at home here. The climbing prices were blamed on climbing wages. The so-called inflationary 1970s was propaganda.

Inflation, in the increase of money supply that took place 1934 to 1971. The results of THAT real inflation, higher prices lagged and showed up later in the ’70s. All thru the 1970s the Fed RAISED rates and sucked money OUT.

Removing money with rates to 21% was deflation. Which also LAGGED and falling prices showed up in 1980 to 2001. REMEMBER anyone?? If Volker did not put a high rate headwind in front of the climbing prices, we may have had a real hyperinflationary situation.

Raising CD rates to 18% pretty much forced everyone to sell stamps AU AG etc and suck up some free money at the bank. Today its all opposite. Low rates forcing people to spend it.

POG a little ugly today …

“Kirby contends the U.S. dollar is a “rigged” game. Is it about to be knocked out by blockchain technology? Kirby says, “Absolutely. What the cryptos offer that the dollar doesn’t is decentralization. It’s the centralized U.S. fiat dollar and the dollar standard that requires everybody in the world, who wants to buy commodities in international markets, must first purchase U.S. dollars. Crypto currencies bypass the dollar and allow for transmission of ownership in a very rapid, cost effective manner. They bypass the dollar completely. What this really means is with the uptake and accelerated use of cryptos, countries will require less and less dollars in their reserve accounts to purchase the goods they want and need in the international marketplace. What happens when people don’t need dollars anymore? The dollars return home. They come back to America . . . which ultimately means inflation will come to America.”

Friedland confident Congo copper project will be bigger than Grasberg

Robert Friedland is mining’s most consummate promoter and the executive chairman of Ivanhoe Mines yesterday grabbed the opportunity to advertise his latest venture – the Kamoa-Kakula project in the Congo – with his usual gusto.

Friedland transformed what could have been a set of exciting drill results into 43 holes of “global significance in the copper world”.

Not that he doesn’t have a lot to work with.

Ivanhoe’s May update lifted Kamoa-Kakula’s resource base above a billion tonnes for the first time and thanks to grades that are a distant memory for Chile’s giants, the in-situ value is an eye-watering $193 a tonne at today’s prices.

Friedland said he’s looking forward to giving shareholders a “substantial” resource expansion in time for Christmas:

No matter how much practice we get in dealing with deaths in the family it never really gets easier. The most helpful thought for me is that we all meet up later, and then maybe we can laugh at all our earthly worries.

Sympathies for the shock of the storm… and then the realization of the devastation and cleanup required afterward in dismal conditions.   The aftermath lingers…

Glad to hear our friends made it thru so far.   My presence here is intermittent also with lots of  family time.  It’s been funeral and burial week.

Watching the Florida recovery and listening to the stories are all good lessons in ‘Preparedness’.   Nothing like boiling some water and brewing some refreshment before beginning the cleanup.
