My view? Nothing is high or low unless compared to something else. You COULD say health care insurance is high compared to general wages and profits of small businesses. That means wages and profits are too low to afford healthcare insurance.
Yes immigrants are part of the problem, but immigrants are a result of USA loss of independence, globalization. In the past, the employer insurance had little or no co-pay. That’s very bad imo. The co-pay should be a decent amount to inhibit going to the Dr. for a minor cold or sniffle.
The old little or no co-pay, causes excess demand and crowded waiting rooms. Besides all that, Drs. hospitals and drug companies charge MORE because they know the insurance co has to pay.
Back in the 40s and 50s nobody had medical insurance. Little to no demand kept costs down. The Dr. used to come to our house for $5 when we were sick. He had plenty of time.
The medical industry is BLOATED, more expensive than the military industrial complex. Lots of money going into it affords lots of waste.
The country can no longer afford to import people and export jobs for the global greater good.
