Tax bill passing

Posted by goldielocks @ 13:05 on December 20, 2017

Republicans win, tax bill going to presidents desk next. I guess Pelosi and her gang aren’t going to get their total tax deductions on their million plus homes now and have to pay more. Too bad for the lying con artist hypocrites. The only tax increases they like is to the middle class and poor. ” and job killer taxes” I’m glad they kept the 7 tiers and just lowered the taxes on them.

Doesn’t seem like Torex’s fault. More like a natural disaster.

The Torex saga in Mexico continues: Work contracts ended amid blockade

Canada’s Torex Gold Resources (TSX: TXG) announced that it has suspended employment contracts for its workforce in Mexico in response to a blockade at its El Limón-Guajes mine, located in the state of Guerrero and one of the richest open-pit gold deposits in the country.

“This suspension is the direct result of an illegal blockade of its ELG Mine, by the Los Mineros Union, an outside union that wants to take over representation of the employees who already have a union. Since the blockade began, on November 3, 2017, the Company has continued to pay its workforce, except for the minority that has participated in the illegal blockade,” management said in a press release.

The news wasn’t expected given that company officials have kept track of who is taking part in the blockade and they estimate that it is only 30 people. It came as a surprise as well because just four days ago, Torex organized a consultation process and 274 of the 520 people eligible to participate agreed upon aborting a 40-day long strike that was also taking place as part of the conflict with the union.

But the suspension of the employment contracts became effective on December 16, 2017, and only a few in charge of managing the miner’s ongoing responsibilities won’t be affected.

In the media statement, however, Torex offered a way out. “If the blockade is removed by the end of day on December 20, 2017, the Company will reconsider the employment contract suspension. Otherwise, it simply cannot continue paying employees as it has been since the beginning of the illegal blockade. It is not financially feasible.”

Re Platinum and Palladium

Posted by Mr.Copper @ 10:44 on December 20, 2017

Has anybody noticed Palladium is more expensive than Platinum these days?? It has to be a distorted value or price. Historically, we all know Platinum was always more expensive.

Five years ago Platinum was $1700 and Palladium was only $600. I’m going to assume the auto manufacturers switched to over Palladium for exhaust systems at that time, 5 years ago.

But now, or today, Palladium is $1025 and Platinum is $919. For about the same cost, going forward, the auto manufacturers just might start going back to Platinum, since Platinum worked best, it was the first choice.

So

A few times a month after opening up my Yahoo portfolio I get one of those warning Popups supposedly from Microsoft saying that my computer is INFECTED that I need to contact them, phone them blah blah blah. I know this is a Phishing scam but the only way to close the page is to close internet explorer and then I have to come back and again log into to my accounts. It’s very annoying.

Is anyone else getting this popup from Yahoo?

I’m thinking about using google even though I hate them and consider them a branch of the NSA. Does anyone have any better ideas for a watchlist location?

PS I have MS popup blocker enabled and have run multiple security programs without finding anything wrong with my computer.

If you are watching, I, and I’m sure everyone else here, sure do miss you, seeing your handle and reading your thoughts. I still remember conversations we had years ago on Gold Eagle and on the phone.

The “bullish” COTs of the past 2 weeks have only allowed gold to claw a few dollars of gains from the mkt-not very thrilling…
