The large version ( Great Kilt, gaelic: Feileadh Mor ; 9 yards long by 5 feet wide ) was pleated and wrapped over a wide leather belt, with the excess slung over the shoulder , and was your bedroll at night . The modern ‘Little Kilt’ is more a fashion statement than the traditional utilitarian ‘Great Kilt’ .
