The SP ‘Daylight’… steaming solo. AMTRAK has discontinued
charter operations and will not provide backup diesel units for
excursions, nor will they carry private rail cars anymore. So
this is what we see… just like the good old days!

New poll, is Ellidiott a R640, North or FGC troll?

Ellidiott soon to prove Godwin’s (God Win itself an oxymoron) law, already pulling the antisemitic card.

Ancestry tests

Posted by Maya @ 23:47 on April 29, 2018

Being aware of the database abuses, I was very reluctant.  But a friend’s daughter was working for a (relatively) small lab in the Pacific Northwest and I got assurances that my self-copyright on my DNA would not be abused, and the lab did not keep records or share data.   So I went for a broad, generalized test of racial content.  Simple and cheapest.

I know my father’s side well.  The family has geneology records going back to 1845 when the immigrant came from Germany.  We have his immigration record, and have located family back in the home village in Germany.  My mother’s side is less distinct.  Mom was of French Canadian descent, and her father’s records were lost in a church fire in Quebec.  The family story is that our four-greats grandmother was a Chippewa indian.   The French explorers intermarried with the natives in the new world.  I was interested in learning the indian content of my DNA.

So the generalized racial content came back caucasian with 3 to 5% asian… which is what American Indian racial content consists of.  (There is no other possible asian content in our family to skew the result.)  So I have documented proof of my slight indian ancestry.  Not enough to claim BIA rights… but I have self-claimed religious Nemenhah Medicine Man rights as old timers here know.

I bet we’re already in it not that I like Iran and would like to see that swamp cleaned out. Theyre like a ticking time bomb. No different than others who use war when their people are in poverty and power mongers and evil ones at that. I have no doubt we’ve been in it for decades.

I hope they can demand the DNA test on sitting bs and either clear things up or make her pay back those grants she got under false pretenses.

Sure seems like Israel is provoking Iran into doing something. Then they can really go wild … and probably drag us into it. Warmongers dream.

Here is a useful link to genealogical DNA testing

Does that make me inbred ? LOL Well Alex, come Halloween, do your folk pump kin?

Treefrog , I was surprised how accurate the tests were…

Posted by Alex Valdor @ 23:10 on April 29, 2018

When it came to geography and time . It accurately indicated when and where some of my ancestors moved from Scotland to different areas in North America . But again , that could have come from genealogical records , and likely did .
In my case , although my ancestors on both sides came from Scotland about 2 centuries ago , they resided in Scottish settlements and married other Scots from those settlements . My blood lines are still 100 % Scottish although my parents were from two very different parts of North America. ( Ontario ( via the Mohawk valley in NY state before the American Revolution ) and Cape Breton Island , Nova Scotia ( after 1800 )).

Does that make me inbred ? LOL

Treefrog : The test I submitted did both sides

Posted by Alex Valdor @ 22:52 on April 29, 2018

and some of the cousins I was matched to were on the side branches . My father had four sisters ( only ) . My mother had only four brothers . However , the company who had my DNA analysed also had access to genealogical records , so the third and fourth cousins who were descended from one of my father’s sisters were indicated as relatives .

alex,

Posted by treefrog @ 22:44 on April 29, 2018

any reason not to run both tests?

Just one problem with DNA testing

Posted by Alex Valdor @ 22:31 on April 29, 2018

As I understand it : ( and I have submitted a sample which did tie me to distant cousins that I was unaware of .)

The paternal test only includes the direct paternal line , father , grandfather ( not grandmother ) , great grandfather ( not great-grandmother ) , etc.
Mitocondrial DNA is just the opposite , mother , grandmother ( not grandfather ) etc.

So at the grandparent level only 50% of the grandparents are represented ( 50% are not ) . At the great grandparent level , only 25% of the lineage is represented ( 75 % are not ) , at the great – great parental level , only 0.5^3 or 12.5 % ( 87.5% are not ) ,etc.

She would win the case in court .

However , if someone has done genealogy ( such as LDS ) and their tree has a common ancestor which is in some organization’s data bank , that organization can make an inferred match to that common ancestor . In that way , the family tree starts to fill out again .

there’s an indian (his family’s from india) running against elizabeth warren for the senate seat in mass.  he’s got signs claiming “only a REAL INDIAN can defeat the fake indian” – complete with big pics of him and warren.  the signs are on both sides of a bus parked in the parking lot of an office building (which he owns!) near warren’s home.

the city’s hassling him about sign permits and such.

he’s suing the city – in federal court – for interfering with his free speech rights.

here’s the kicker – – – he can demand a dna test as part of discovery!!!

i wonder how princess sitting bullsh1t will respond to that kind of federal subpoena.  this could really get to be entertaining.

The only one who is ignorant is you who don’t bother to inform yourself because it’s easier to be fed BS by someone else.
As far as the Jew call I read it in a book on internal corruption. I lent it out years ago don’t remember who the author was and ran into it in his book. Maybe you better check snopes first ha ha. Since the author I read was Jewish you could hardly call him anti Semitic. But then so bet your the type that thinks it’s okay to bash Christians.
Here’s one in a quick search.

Gold And Silver: Sell In May And Go Away? Not Exactly

It’s easy to dismiss seasonality in the price of a tradable asset. After all, if supply and demand fluctuate regularly you’d think the resulting arbitrage would attract enough traders to smooth out prices. But that’s apparently not the case with gold and silver.

When one gets 150 inches of rain a year, the yard work is NEVER finished!  Took out 30 rubbish trees and had them chipped up and spread the mulch among the rocky lava and stumps in the back.  Mango tree was topped so it spreads low and horizontal for easy pickin’s in the future.  In two years it has not yet produced mangos… not that I care a lot.  I’m allergic to mangos and cannot eat them.  My friends get any that appear.  Lychee tree is abundant with fruit now, with friends salivating over them.  I’m allergic to Lychees also.

Guavas had to be cut back as they were leaning over the fence and dropping on the neighbor’s nice yard.  Got a few tangerines off that trimmed back tree.    Football sized papaya before the tree rotted from all the rain we had.  Several more papaya trees coming along.  But the real ‘rock star’ is the lemon tree that seems to have roots down a lava crack into a lava tube with plenty of moisture.  The lemon tree has produced continuously for the past year… hundreds and hundreds of small lemons.  You wonder why I’m a sourpuss??

We’ve had lots of rainy days this winter, so cannot get the yard work done, and the jungle keeps creeping in around the edges.  On the rare sunny day I’m out doing aerobic yard work… pumping green waste to the wheelbarrow and pickup truck.  It’s easy to rip out three truckloads of waste in a week.  But it’s getting there slowly.  Roughly 50% of the back yard can now be mowed, around the lava domes and rocks.  Cutting back the vines that creep over the fence from the jungle lot next door is a constant battle.

Retirement?  I’m working harder than ever on nice days!  🙂

Price cuts at luxurious Hamptons estates? A New Real Estate Crash Starting?

Posted by Mr.Copper @ 13:29 on April 29, 2018

Parts:

Sellers who hoped to get astronomical prices have agreed to multimillion-dollar price reductions to attract buyers.

The waterfront Hamptons estate known as Villa Maria boasts 11 bedrooms, Carrara-marbled baths, arched windows overlooking formal gardens, a heated pool, tennis court, guesthouse — and a $51 million discount off its original price.

The 15-acre former convent in Water Mill, previously owned by the late shoe designer Vince Camuto, was listed in 2008 for $100 million. It sold last month for $49 million to two separate buyers; one paid $36 million for 11 acres, including the 20,000-square-foot main house on Mecox Bay, and the remaining land traded for $13 million, said a spokesman for Sotheby’s International Realty, which represented the buyer of the main house.

Other luxury properties also have gotten steep price cuts this year. On Monday, a 10,000-square-foot oceanfront home on 6 acres in East Hampton fetched a closed-sale price of $40 million, according to Sotheby’s, which represented the seller. It was a markdown of $29 million from the 2016 asking price.

Lasata, the onetime childhood summer home of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, sold in January; a 7-acre piece of the East Hampton estate, including the 10-bedroom home, closed for $24 million, down about $15 million from its 2016 listing price, public records show.

The volatility of the stock market so far this year, the impact of the new federal tax law and concerns about rising interest rates and political turmoil in the United States and abroad, have prompted some buyers to exercise caution, brokers said.

This year’s federal tax overhaul also could be playing a role, homeowners face a new $10,000 cap on deductions for state and local taxes, limiting the tax benefits of homeownership.

In the Hamptons, luxury properties can come with annual tax bills of $150,000 to $200,000, Brennan said. “If you can only take $10,000 off that for your taxes, that’s quite a big difference,” he said.

There were a lot of believers that the attack of the towers was legit that signed up until they landed to see all the oil fields burning. That’s not to mention when it came out all the people who worked in the towers that were warned not to go to work that day. Meanwhile the war promoters are hiding safe in their bunkers amongst the women and children, including Bin Laden.
