Hawaii is NOT the ‘Ring of Fire’ !
This morning’s newspaper devoted several pages to more ‘doom porn’ coming from AP about how the Hawaii volcano has raised volcano fears on the west coast and around the ‘ring of fire’…. which AP says includes Hawaii. NOT TRUE. Hawaii is in the middle…. not part of the ‘ring’. And Hawaii is NOT a subduction volcano like the rest of the west coast and the ‘ring.
They are volcanos, but they are very different… like comparing apples and oranges. Hawaii is a shield volcano… much more tame than a subduction volcano. Yet the news merrily marches on with the ‘explosions’ narrative. And the West coast is no more… or less… at risk than it was before the Hawaii eruption. Sheesh. Doom Porn.
Mother’s Day on the Volcano
Madam Pele gave birth to several new fissures on the eastern end of the eruptive zone. Fissures #16,17, and this morning #18. The eruptions passed the geothermal plant by about a mile and broke out again further east. This is near the zone of the 1955 lava flow.
So the geothermal plant has been ‘bracketed’ by fissures to the west and now to the east. Perhaps Pele will spare the power plant. At peak capacity it can supply 38 MegaWatts, or 20% of our island power. For now, it is shut down. The ‘doom porn’ news is still saying there are 50,000 gallons of volatile Pentane at the plant, “just waiting to blow”. This is NOT TRUE. The pentane was moved out several days ago, so there is no explosion threat from the geothermal plant.
News feeds are also excited about the possible summit explosions. They make it sound like Mount St. Helens is about to destroy the island any minute now. It’s really not much of a big deal for us locally. We just keep away from the crater. While there is the possibility of a 1924 style steam explosion, things may be a little less explosive this time. The lava vent pipe is much larger now than it was in 1924, so it would be harder for a rockfall of the sidewalls to seal the vent and turn it into a ‘spud cannon’. The crater is actively steaming now… a lot… but it’s a large, open hole at this point and it would take a massive clog to make it explosive.
Biggest human threat right now is the volume of SO2 gas being emitted by the fresh lava fissures. People in the immediate area really need to have the Sulfur Dioxide masks as the wind wafts this stuff around. I got a strong dose at home, five miles downwind, when the wind came my way. But it’s very intermittent as it wafts around in the wind, so you need to keep aware of the wind direction. We just closed up the house and stayed indoors for an hour and it was gone later.

He’s supervised by Rod Rosenstein who would certainly have to sign off on anything as extraordinary as a subpoena issued to the President. If Rosenstein did that, his tenure could be measured in nanoseconds.

The Israeli attack on the Hamas tunnel was not a strategic move, it was tactical. Yes, the Israeli’s defend along three fronts. They have since 1948. Nothing new except that now the Iranians are attacking from Syria and Lebanon. Now Egypt and Jordan are at peace with Israel and they know longer insist on wiping out Israel, so they can spend their money and efforts on improving the lives of their people and only have to spend a small amount fighting off Islamic terrorists and Iranian proxies.

I never said I was an expert on buildings, but I believe the thousands of pages of data by honorable experts who have thoroughly discounted the conspiracy theories by fools. I am something of an expert on explosives and placing cutting charges on steel. I am still waiting to hear the silly theory about how the ghost army that placed all the charges….unseen by anyone was able to accomplish the monumental task.
I never said I was an expert on volcanoes, but I have lived in Hawaii for 6 years and commented on what a lot of experts were saying, I wrote that a few days and since then there have been numerous news stories on the subject that support what I wrote.
I never wrote on Friday that precious metals were going to have a good day. I did have a small gain on the day however, thanks to PVG.

the news story will not change. Of course the Palestinians will say they just had farmers in the field doing nothing wrong. The terrorist tunnels are how Hamas will try and sneak attack the little kibbutz just inside Israel. If the people in Gaza were allowed the money to spend on improving their lives instead of funding terrorism, they would be living a very good lifestyle. The problem is, as we all should know, is that Hamas is dedicated to the destruction of Israel and the death of the Jews. Nothing new.
