Which last only a few years , so I think if an American business would develop appliances with real long term value , they would sell . I have a GE fridge built domestically in 1983-84 which has been moved six times between three distant states ( SC to PA [4 moves there] to FL ) and which still runs flawlessly , and has NEVER been serviced .
Contrast that with a TV built in Asia , which cost over $7000 new ( LED , 4K , 3-D , etc.) which began to fail within two and a half years … just out of warranty.I am told the set is virtually irreparable because of the complexity and design .This from a company that once had an impeccable record of reliability in the 1960’s and 1970’s ! Once American manufacturers had been run out of business , the exporting companies cut back on reliability , apparently .
