Only to get bitch slapped in the last hour. 7 years running of endless groundhog days and we wonder why sentiment is bad – well, maybe we don’t even wonder about that anymore.
Fed meeting tomorrow. Jobs report Friday. Uggh

Years ago, before cellphones, my friend’s teenage son used the house phone as his ‘home base contact’. Whenever the phone rang, it was always for Jeremy, so everyone would just yell “Jeremy, Telephone!” whenever the phone rang and make him answer the phone himself. The ensuing conversation was always full of expletives and obscene comments. Soon the bird took up the conversation and every time the phone would ring, the bird would yell, “Jeremy… Telephone! F#*# You! F#*# You!”
My little green-cheek conure has developed quite a repertoire and I have to watch what is said around him. He’s human-bonded and very attentive and imitates all the sounds he hears around him. He knows his own name… Pepe’…. and my name and my friend’s name and calls us by name when he wants something… “Pepe’ Chip!” for a corn chip treat to gnaw on. So my (low class) friend would sometimes fart, and blame it on the bird making that sound and exclaim “Pepe’!”
Sure enough… last week when he visited the bird made a stunning fart sound and exclaimed “Pepe’!”

yeah, at least it’s nice to see a little bit of a reversal, too bad we can’t really get anything going though.
Still fighting the stronger dollar.
EDIT: and now we face the most devastating hour of the day….
Fed meeting ends tomorrow, never a good thing…

Every time we start to get a little upside momentum they come right in a knock us back down.
They are like God – omnipresent.

The newsletter I just got also suspects this is it. “July 2018. The lowest level of positive opinions towards Gold on record”. “Paradoxically, so bad its good”.
A good Brake Job these days on the car can go over $1200. Since when is a brake job equal to one ounce of pure gold? Property taxes around here are common $12000/year. Ten ounces a year? For tax?
When people buy gold, and take possession, even if it’s jewelry in India, it’s the same as a withdrawal of cash from your local bank. They can NOT let people think they can’t get their cash out when they want to.
Its got to be the same with Gold and central banks and bullion banks re Fed Notes converted to gold. They must lower the Gold prices when they want people to chicken out and sell gold.
When they want people to redeposit it, bring it back, they raise the prices and all the scrap jewelry goes to smelters and back to the banks. That’s my guess after talking to redemption stores and jewelers.

We also have tariff talks. Talks that would of never taken place if he just asked them to be fair like the others before him. Ironic Germany only paying 1% while other poorer country’s paying more. The dollar has been moving by itself pretty much due to failing socialist countries including Europe now. They don’t need the fed making it worse. Think it’s in a couple of days but getting pushed back by Trump so we’ll see.
Plus, Trump threatening a Gov Shutdown if they won’t build the wall. That might start some temp uncertainty. I don’t see any sustaining argument for a long term bull run right now.
IMO wouldn’t jump in without verification of any bounce be a individual stock or the whole sector just to grab some a little cheaper less playing the futures short term either way.

A trucker’s wife sees 3 parrots for sale at $160, $150, and $10.
She asks, “Why is the last parrot so cheap?!” and the store owner replied
“It used to live in a whore house.”
So the woman laughs and buys the parrot and gets home. When she enters, the parrot says
“WOW, a new whore house!”
Later, the woman’s two daughters arrive and the parrot says
“Damn! Two new gals just got hired!”
They all laugh and go to have dinner, which is when the father comes home. The parrot says
“Hey Dave! I see you found the new spot!”
That’s when the fight started.

Do we have a Fed meeting this week?
I think we also have an employment report on Friday – yikes.
Agree with you, we are only allowed miniscule gains because the SM is up. Shares still aren’t showing much signs of life. They’ve got to lead I think.

gone up before FED meetings and sometimes after too–they have been nice little pops but were ALL soon clawed back…note that gold is allowed a pathetic little rise ONLY because stocks are OK today…let’ see how the day ends…

yeah, sentiment is pretty much in the dumps, no doubt as low as I’ve ever seen it. 7 years of disappointment has to weigh on investor psyche.
We’ll see what happens, hopefully we won’t breach much lower levels than where we are right now.

Sorry, I have no clue about short term except that I believe this short term bottom is in and the actual bottom was back at the end of 2015 and/or the beginning of 2016. I have not traded any of my PM portfolio now for several years and I don’t plan to do any trading until we approach those tops I mentioned. I don’t recall any time when sentiment was so low as it is now. Do you? But DYODD!!

I have been updating the same XAU and HUI monthly charts for several years, the same ones I have mentioned in the past indicating that the next top would be XAU 321 and HUI 1000……and I have been wrong on when those tops would take place…..But……This is the first time in my charting that both charts agree that those tops will take place at the same time…… and that time is May/June 2020. So IMO the bottom is in and we have some sweet times ahead in PM’s. But please DYODD!!
All the best from Silverngold
