PART:

Less Risky Growths Need Less Frightening Name Than Cancer

Low-risk growths in the breast, prostate and elsewhere should no longer be named cancer and screening efforts to spot them should be cut back, a panel convened by the U.S. National Cancer Institute said.

A three decade-long emphasis on the early identification of tumors was based on the idea that cancerous cells always spread and eventually kill, the researchers wrote yesterday in the Journal of the American Medical Association. Instead of sparking a drop in cancer deaths, the approach has led to the detection and toxic treatment of millions of people who may have never had any symptoms from indolent lesions.review
“The goal going forward is to personalize screening strategies, and focus screening policies on the conditions that are most likely to result in aggressive illness and death,” said Laura Esserman, director of breast care at the University of California, San Francisco’s cancer center. “By recognizing that cancer is not one disease, but a number of different diseases, we can individualize our treatment.”
Among their recommendations, the authors of yesterday’s medical journal editorial called for an independent, broad group under the auspice of an organization such as the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies to review and rename less-risky lesions and growths currently identified as cancer.

Not a bad idea to memorize this list if one watches the news

 11 Warning Signs of Gaslighting

Gaslighting is a manipulation tactic used to gain power. And it works too well.

Posted Jan 22, 2017

Gaslighting is a tactic in which a person or entity, in order to gain more power, makes a victim question their reality. It works much better than you may think. Anyone is susceptible to gaslighting, and it is a common technique of abusers, dictators, narcissists, and cult leaders. It is done slowly, so the victim doesn’t realize how much they’ve been brainwashed. For example, in the movie Gaslight (1944), a man manipulates his wife to the point where she thinks she is losing her mind.

People (or entities) who gaslight typically use the following techniques:

1. They tell blatant lies.

You know it’s an outright lie. Yet they are telling you this lie with a straight face. Why are they so blatant? Because they’re setting up a precedent. Once they tell you a huge lie, you’re not sure if anything they say is true. Keeping you unsteady and off-kilter is the goal.

2. They deny they ever said something, even though you have proof.

You know they said they would do something; you know you heard it. But they out and out deny it. It makes you start questioning your reality—maybe they never said that thing. And the more they do this, the more you question your reality and start accepting theirs.

3. They use what is near and dear to you as ammunition.

They know how important your kids are to you, and they know how important your identity is to you. So those may be one of the first things they attack. If you have kids, they tell you that you should not have had those children. They will tell you’d be a worthy person if only you didn’t have a long list of negative traits. They attack the foundation of your being.

4. They wear you down over time.

This is one of the insidious things about gaslighting—it is done gradually, over time. A lie here, a lie there, a snide comment every so often…and then it starts ramping up. Even the brightest, most self-aware people can be sucked into gaslighting—it is that effective. It’s the “frog in the frying pan” analogy: The heat is turned up slowly, so the frog never realizes what’s happening to it.

5. Their actions do not match their words.

When dealing with a person or entity that gaslights, look at what they are doing rather than what they are sayingWhat they are saying means nothing; it is just talk. What they are doing is the issue.

6. They throw in positive reinforcement to confuse you.

This person or entity that is cutting you down, telling you that you don’t have value, is now praising you for something you did. This adds an additional sense of uneasiness. You think, “Well maybe they aren’t so bad.” Yes, they are. This is a calculated attempt to keep you off-kilter—and again, to question your reality. Also look at what you were praised for; it is probably something that served the gaslighter.

7. They know confusion weakens people.

Gaslighters know that people like having a sense of stability and normalcy. Their goal is to uproot this and make you constantly question everything. And humans’ natural tendency is to look to the person or entity that will help you feel more stable—and that happens to be the gaslighter.

8. They project.

They are a drug user or a cheater, yet they are constantly accusing you of that. This is done so often that you start trying to defend yourself, and are distracted from the gaslighter’s own behavior.

9. They try to align people against you.

Gaslighters are masters at manipulating and finding the people they know will stand by them no matter what—and they use these people against you. They will make comments such as, “This person knows that you’re not right,” or “This person knows you’re useless too.” Keep in mind it does not mean that these people actually said these things. A gaslighter is a constant liar. When the gaslighter uses this tactic it makes you feel like you don’t know who to trust or turn to—and that leads you right back to the gaslighter. And that’s exactly what they want: Isolation gives them more control.

10. They tell you or others that you are crazy.

This is one of the most effective tools of the gaslighter, because it’s dismissive. The gaslighter knows if they question your sanity, people will not believe you when you tell them the gaslighter is abusive or out-of-control. It’s a master technique.

TRUMP=they will NEED somebody or something else to blame when economies start crashing, when unemployment reaches epic proportions,

Posted by Richard640 @ 6:59 on July 22, 2018

Deutsche Bank is laying the public relations groundwork to blame Trump and the “trade wars” for their imminent crash and burn. That’s the beauty of Trump and “his” trade wars — now EVERYBODY has an excuse, someone else to blame it on, a way to “explain” why everything is falling apart and deflecting all blame. And they will NEED somebody or something else to blame when economies start crashing, when unemployment reaches epic proportions, when the food stores and gas stations suddenly run out of product to sell. If you’re an elected official, an elite, a big corp CEO or anybody of any significant status, you know how key it is to have a convenient scapegoat when everything goes sour. Trump and his trade wars is IT.

That’s a Super Dangerous Place to Be”: CEO of JPMorgan Asset Management

When central banks distort the markets, risk disappears from view.

“You could have a bunch of walking-zombie companies and you don’t even know it,” explained Mary Callahan Erdoes, CEO of JPMorgan Asset Management, on Wednesday at the Delivering Alpha Conference in New York. “That’s a super dangerous place to be,” she said.

She was talking about the effects of the ECB’s bond buying program as part of a broader warning that investors are no longer seeing risks.

The ECB has been buying corporate bonds, among other things, in an explicit effort to distort the bond market and drive corporate bond yields to near zero. At the peak of the frenzy last fall, the average euro junk-bond yield fell to 2.08% — though it has risen since. These are bonds with an appreciable risk of default. But the yield was barely enough to cover inflation (currently 2.0%). Credit risk wasn’t priced in at all.

The bond-buying binge has created a universe of bonds with negative yields, and desperate investors who’ll take any risk without compensation just to cover inflation. This desperation supplies fresh money to burn to even the riskiest zombie companies.

Companies have relentlessly taken advantage of this investor desperation. The amount of corporate euro bonds outstanding has surged by about 45% over the past three years, to €1.5 trillion ($1.75 trillion), including record euro-bonds issued by American junk-rated companies.

The End is Near For the Economic Boom

Analysts Are In Fantasyland

*****************************************

AGAINST THAT BACKDROP, Wall Street analysts seem utterly clueless in their optimism. Consider that over the past 70 years, U.S. corporate profits have grown at a 5.6% compound annual rate. During the greatest bull market in history, from 1982 to 2000, they grew at 6.5%. Yet Wall Street analysts believe the profits of the S&P 500 companies will rage ahead at a searing 15% annual pace—not for a few quarters, but over the next five years.

One of the all-time great investors, John Templeton, said, “Bull markets are born on pessimism, grow on skepticism, mature on optimism, and die on euphoria.” This sounds like euphoria, or what we might less politely term insanity.

You forgot to mention China also leads the world in poisoned baby food and pet products, as well as “air” that is closer to exhaust fumes than anything you’d willingly breathe. Anything with the words Made in China on it that is supposed to be eaten or given to consume to someone I care about…I avoid like the plague. It probably has about the same effect on a healthy system.

There’s some as you probably know living in the Wild West that will come out of things and put the pieces of their life back together or change it. There are others some who never had a chance or way out because of no skills and don’t know anything else. The one who spoke to me appeared later to tell me he’s okay had a job and had skills. Hoped the best for him. Others who did but didn’t care so to speak who have no intention to change their ways and add the determination not wanting to go back to jail is a dangerous combination.
Its especially dangerous for the cop that pulls them over.
There are some bad cops that make all suspect and should be dealt with because of it, but for the most part when you hear a cop shot someone it’s more because of situations like this no matter how it’s painted they had a gun or knife and intended to use it.

Actually, the cops DO call this Puna district “the Wild West”.  Lots of jungle with ‘subdivision roads’ (two gravel ruts) in remote areas of the jungle… sparsely populated with lots of off-grid ‘cabins’.  One can hide out here for a long time… especially with some local help.  With the reward now up to $30k it’s only a matter of time before someone snitches.

We grow some real sociopathic large egos here that are fond of guns and pit bulls.  This brainiac isn’t thinking ahead… he’s just living in fear of going back to prison and determined to escape whatever tries to come at him.  But it’s an island… he’s not going anywhere.  He surely doesn’t have any piloting or boat skills.

The USA has the reserve currency. Too many people have USDs (friend & foe alike) to allow hyperinflation to happen. Being that the majority of USDs are digital, hyperinflation won’t happen by accident short of WWIII. Stagflation is the name of the game, which is why that’s what we’ve been suffering for 30 years, and more prominently, 10 years. It keeps the status quo intact and the peasants scrambling. Luckily, guarding yourself against stagflation will keep you afloat in just about any environment.
